I can hear you asking yourselves "what on earth has she posted today?"
And "what on earth is that funny little space?" It doesn't look pretty or insta worthy but perhaps it is more worthy than a picture of some decor or furnishings, and is an important reminder of times gone by.
Once upon a time..
There was a builder called Mr Cohen, he was a very smart Jewish man
He built the houses in my road during the early 1930s.
This man had some sort of knowledge of what was to come during the war years and he cleverly built into every house a "hide hole" Each house had one in a different place.
Somehow he had the foresight that the Jewish people would be persecuted and built in some protection into all his new build homes as a safeguard
The space in my house is now partially boxed in but it is above the bulk head of the stair case and is now boarded out as storage by previous owner. It shall remain in place as it is a reminder of our history.
During the war the house immediately opposite and also 2 doors away were direct hits from bombs during the air attacks over Liverpool. MY house does have some historic settlement as a result which I love and adds to it's history and quirky nature
I feel comforted living in this house knowing that it has survived so much and I'm in the process of slowly restoring it
This post is also my entry for Day 4 storage solutions in #myhousethismonth@myhousethismonth
