𝐃𝐚𝐲[𝟕𝟔-𝟕𝟕/𝟏𝟎𝟎] - Have you used the MVC architecture before!? 😋
As you’re developing a web application and it starts to grow you need to think about the design of your code 👨🏻💻
In this post I will talk one of the most popular design patterns used in web applications 👍🏻
𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙈𝙑𝘾? 👀
Model-View-Controller is an architectural pattern used when we develop web interfaces, which splits the application into 3 different parts.
• 𝙈𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙡: Handles the applications data logic by managing its data structure, types and rules such as whether a piece of data is required ✔️ This is also where database interactions would take place.
• 𝙑𝙞𝙚𝙬: Represents what the user will see. Different views can be presented to the user dynamically via html templates 💁🏻♂️
• 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙧: Acts as the middleman between the Model & the view 🔗
When a user requests a resource/page, the controller handles this request by getting data from the model, which passes this data to the view. Then the view sends back a response to the controller 🎮 then the controller sends the view response back to the user
Overall, it's important to note that the model & view never interact with each other 🙅🏻♂️ any interactions happen through the controller. Hence why this design makes developing an web app much more simpler and adapts cleaner code.
👉🏻 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙩?
👉🏻 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙈𝙑𝘾? 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨/𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨?
As ways any questions, drop them down below and me or someone else can do our best to answer you! ☺️
Day[73-75/100] - what's your favourite keyboard? ⌨️
How's everyone's Week going so far? ☺️ I've been really busy, so trying to stay productive! Hence why I love a minimalistic workspace 🖥️
👉🏻 Describe your own setup in 3 words!!
👉🏻 White ⚪ or Black ⚫ Which side are you on?
👉🏻 What would you add to this setup?
Been using @aziocorp Retro Classic BT keyboard the past week and I love it! ❤️ It's such an upgrade to my previous keyboard 🔥 (psst this is not sponsored at all)
In terms of #100daysofcode I've been working through my nodeJS course, which I will shortly make a post about 😁
Also working on some design + wordpress for a client 👨🏻💼
👉🏻 What are you working on?
Happy coding everyone! 👨🏻💻✌🏻
Day[70-72/100] - How to start coding 𝙋𝘼𝙍𝙏 2 ✌🏻
Part 1 is directly below this post on my profile 👇🏻
This post will be focused around back-end web development & where do you start 🤔
☝🏻𝙋𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙖 𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙩!
You have options but that doesn't mean you have to master them all. Examples:
• 𝙋𝙃𝙋 - very popular, huge Dev community support and been around for ages!
• 𝙋𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙣 - Beginner friendly, modern, very popular. Also used for big data/AI
There's a bunch more like java, .NET, ruby but I'll let you do the research 😋
🗃️ 𝙋𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙤𝙡
This won't take long.. Learn how to use it and you'll understand very quickly the flexibility it gives you as a developer!
• 𝙉𝙤𝙙𝙚.𝙟𝙨 has NPM/Yarn
• 𝙋𝙃𝙋 has Composer
• 𝙋𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙣 has Pip
• 𝙍𝙪𝙗𝙮 has Gems 💎
🔐 𝙉𝙚𝙭𝙩 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙨!
Starting out I would recommend you learn 𝙈𝙮𝙎𝙌𝙇, it's probably the most beginner friendly database.
Other options include: postgresSQL, MariaDB & MongoDB(For NodeJS) 🔥
🎯 𝙞𝙩'𝙨 𝙏𝙄𝙈𝙀 𝙩𝙤 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠!!
Frameworks make your life as a developer easier and give you so much flexibility. Depending on your language:
• 𝙋𝙃𝙋 - Laravel, Codeigniter, symfony
• 𝙉𝙤𝙙𝙚.𝙟𝙨 - Express.js, Hapi.js
• 𝙋𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙣 - There's alot!
• 𝙍𝙪𝙗𝙮 - all I know is ruby on rails 😅
This post is getting quite long but i think I've given enough to get you started, despite there being alot more like RESTful APIs, Authentication, web servers, Testing and much more!
👉🏻 As always leave any questions in the comments and I or someone else can help you out 😉
Thank you!!! 🙏🏻❤️ If you made it this far drop a 👨🏻💻 in the comments. You the real MVP 😎
Day[66-69/100] - what I've been up to 🕵🏻♂️
Been really busy these past days, hence the reason for lack of posts! 🤦🏻♂️
Big thank you to @lamicall_official for sending over two of their products 👌🏻
My Macbook gets extremely hot, so their cooling pad helps out quite a bit 😌
Day 66 I was working with mongoose, which I'll make a separate post about 😉
Day 67 - Adding a few small features to a java application that I was working on & also writing up some documentation (left comments till the end 😅)
Day 68 - Meeting with a client I'm doing some wordpress work for 👨🏻💼 Went really well and should be pumping out some work for them over the weekend! 😁
Day 69 - Doing some content editing and later on will work on some PHP/SQL.
👉🏻 What have you been up too this week?
👉🏻 Does your laptop ever turn into the sun? ☀️😆
👉🏻 What kind of post/content would you be interested in seeing from me? Any ideas let me know 😊
Happy coding everyone! ☺️✌🏻♥️
Day[63, 64 & 65/100] - Learning MongoDB 🤓
Over these past days one of the things I've been covering is @mongodb
Probably the main reason for me buying a nodeJS course was to learn mongo, as it's the technology of the MERN stack I have the least amount of knowledge 🧠
𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙤𝘿𝘽? 🤔
MongoDB is a NoSQL, JSON-Document based database. This means that we can interact with the database without SQL queries and it stores data using JSON, rather than relational databases like MySQL 🗃️
Next up is Mongoose 🐏 A 5hr section!!
👉🏻 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙤𝘿𝘽 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚?
👉🏻 What databases have you worked with in the past?
👉🏻 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩'𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝? 😆
👉🏻 How's your weekend been?
𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙪𝙥 𝙩𝙤𝙤 👀
Happy coding peeps! ✌🏻❤️
Day[61&62/100] - So you want to know how to start coding? 👨🏻💻
Since I get asked "how to start" quite frequently I thought I would make a post about my view on this topic 😋 I will not tell you where to learn, because you can simple Google "Best places to learn... [insert thing you want to learn] "
This post will be focused around web development, but if you have any questions drop it in the comments and me or someone else can help you out 😁
• 𝘾𝙎𝙎 - make sure to learn how to make layouts using CSS GRID & Flex Box and also media queries for responsive design!
It's also a good idea to check out CSS pre-processors like SASS 👍🏻
• 𝙅𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙎𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩 - Cover the basics concepts & Learn DOM manipulation, for this jQuery can help but not essential.
Learn about Ajax requests & eventually ES6+ JS 🔥
𝙋𝙞𝙘𝙠 1 𝙁𝙍𝘼𝙈𝙀𝙒𝙊𝙍𝙆/𝙇𝙄𝘽𝙍𝘼𝙍𝙔
CSS - Bootstrap & or semantic UI
JS - React.js, Angular or Vue!! ⚛️
^ YOU WILL NEED JS ES6+ KNOWLEDGE
There's so much more stuff to look at: server side rendering, static site generators, bundling tools, package managers, testing and more! So just focus on the fundamentals first and work at it 💪🏻
This post is getting really long and I planned to talk about Back-End Development 🤦🏻♂️
👉🏻 𝙒𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙚𝙫?
👉🏻 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜?
👉🏻 𝘿𝙧𝙤𝙥 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄'𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 😉
Happy coding peeps ✌🏻❤️
So I'm curious to know:
👉🏻 Do you know ES6+ JS?
I recommend you learn and understand these concepts before moving onto things like React & nodeJS 😉
To mention a few popular ones:
Classes, template literals, promises/async, ternary/spread operators, destructuring & more!
Happy coding peeps ☺️✌🏻❤️
Day[58&59/100] - Node.js, Express, MongoDB & More 💻🔥
Yesterday on my story, I asked you guys for nodeJS course recommendations! 📖 Thank you for all the suggestions, I'm sure they are all great courses! 🙌🏻
I decided to go with a course called Node.js, Express, MongoDB & More: The complete Bootcamp 2019 by Jonas schmedtmann 👨🏻🏫
I'm curious to know:
👉🏻 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚?
What do you think of it 👀
👉🏻 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩?
👉🏻 𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙬?
Today, I will be working through some more of the course. Idk about you guys but I hate the beginning of course for technologies I'm already experienced at.. they bore me because I already know most of the content.. but at the same time I don't want to Skipp stuff 😅
Happy coding everyone, have a great week! ⚡
Day[56 & 57/100] - 𝙒𝘼𝙄𝙏... are you telling me I can stand up and code 🙀
Wishing you all a great weekend! 😊
For the past two days, I've been using my new standing desk. And wow.. what a productivity booster 👌🏻🔥
I'm curious to know:
👉🏻 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙩?
e.g: bed, desk, bath, space, etc..
👉🏻𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙠/𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙧?
If so, tell me what you like/dislike about it
👉🏻 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙚𝙣𝙙?
I'll be finishing up this java application ☕ then I'll be doing some wordpress work for a client 👨🏻💼
Happy coding everyone! 💻✌🏻❤️
Day[55/100] - What kind of Developer are you 👀
Since the possibilities with tech are endless, I'm curious to find out what kind of Developer are you? 🤓
👉🏻 Are you a front-end, Back-End, full-stack, software, mobile, etc..
Maybe your title doesn't exactly have the word developer in it, but you work with tech such as a data scientist 👨🏻🔬
Let me know in the comments 👇🏻
Btw, if you're interested you can grab a JS DEVELOPER shirt @thefreshdev
I'll Continue with Java for today and may work on some of my react Course Later on tonight ☺️
👉🏻 How has you week been?
👉🏻 What do you think of the Pikachu ⚡
Have an awesome Thursday, happy coding peeps 💻✌🏻❤️
