“I wish someone had told me this simple but confusing truth: Even when everything’s going your way you can still be sad. Or anxious. Or uncomfortably numb. Because you can’t always control your brain or your emotions even when things are perfect.”

Today, my second favorite city is hosting their annual Pride Parade and there’s a lot of friends of mine who will be celebrating up there. I’m proud of all of them. Who they are, what they’ve done to get to this point in life, and all the lives that they’ve touched along the way. Yes, we all know there’s one in particular that I’m very proud of though. She’s faced a lot of hurdles, she’s stumbled at times, but at the end of the day, she is able to pick herself up whether it’s by herself or with the help of some amazing people she surrounds herself with. She does all this while trying to be the best big sister to two wonderful girls, a “mom” to the most comforting and photogenic pup, and a girlfriend to a woman who’s caring as much as she is. I hope she is as proud of herself as I am. I hope that she continues to help others “to take time and always find the light” in life and to help them be proud of who they are too. To all y’all out there celebrating, no matter what anyone says, be proud! 🏳️🌈 #yallmeansall#cltpride#stonewall50#ProudToBeAnAlly
