I looked forward to today as much as I looked forward to Monday. Why would anyone live their life just waiting for the weekends? Life’s too short to only be happy on Fridays.
UNLESS of course you’re working a full time to pay the bills, student loans and you’re building your business or your brand on the side. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In that case, the real hustle starts Friday night. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Starting a company begins with an idea you are passionate about, a solution to a problem, or both if you are lucky, like me!
While starting LadyBugOut has been exciting, and rewarding, it’s also been challenging and scary. I am betting on an idea I believe in, and a product that fills a gaping hole in the market. Some days I need to remind myself of that, especially when I think about the fact that my choice to pursue LadyBugOut is a decision that will affect my own family, and the families of the fantastic ladies behind @ladybugoutco.
As a mom I am responsible for teaching my daughter how to work through fear and uncertainty, yet many days I find myself learning how to do the same.

I asked @virgin chairman and billionaire @richardbranson why it's important to have real friendships with the people you work with. He said, "You should bring the things you believe at home to the workplace. There should be no difference between somebody's life at home and somebody's life at work. If at home, you feel that the environment's important, it should be important in the workplace. If at home, you've got friends, you should have an equal number of friends in the workplace. If at home you need holidays, there's got to be flexibility with holidays in the workplace. If you need to take a couple of days off because you're feeling unwell or because a friend has died or because a friend is getting married, you should be able to do so. You should never feel that you are chained to a desk at work. If you want to go off for two months paid leave, you should be allowed to do that. If you want to work at home on Fridays and Mondays, you should be allowed to do that. If you want to work at home all the time, you should be allowed to do that. If you want to have flexible working, with 50% work, 50% home, you should be able to do that, or job share with somebody, you should be able to do that. An employer is only going to get proper rewards from an employee, if they love what they're doing. We need a lot more flexibility in the workplace than lot of companies give today."

“If it’s not in my calendar it doesn’t exist” is a phrase I hear people say all the time. Yet, they only use their calendars for business purposes. Then, they complain they don’t have enough time for personal activities, but are striving for work life balance. Why not build your personal life into your calendar so you can integrate, not separate your life. I find work life integration as the best solution to maximizing your day and living a fulfilling life.

This is a GAME CHANGER. You don’t have time to catch up with friends? To do yoga? To prep healthy food? To run your side hustle? To have a date night? Hard truth time: yes, you do. It’s a matter of making it a priority in your life, and that is a different story entirely. 🖤
When you change “I don’t have time to” into “I don’t prioritize,” it will flip the switch on your perspective. “I don’t prioritize my health” feels really icky - and suddenly, kablam: you just made space for yoga twice a week. “I don’t prioritize my relationship” is a red alert: kaboom, you just created time for a regular date night (or day date, even better). 🖤
We are all busy, to varying degrees of busy-ness. It tends to be the busiest of all who have the most dynamic lives, and it’s because they’ve committed to make the time for what’s important to them. You can do this too, it’s a matter of - ouch - choosing to do so. 🖤
By no means am I saying you should you attempt to do it all; that’s it’s own brand of difficulty. The objective is to make time for the things that matter to YOU, rather than hide behind the veil of not having enough time. 🖤
Play. Love. Self care. Joy. Pleasure. Health. Focus. Calm. Fun. Growth. Cardio. What are you making time for this week, as a priority for you? 🖤

Morning HIIT class @flowlabpdx. Home for breakfast and a little baking with my girls before work. Client session. Web site and copy reviews for clients. Game time with the little. Summer camp pickup for the oldest. Picnic dinner. Stories. Seinfeld date with the husband. Bed.
On Wednesdays, I'm sharing a peek of how I balance my work as a coach for creatives with my desire to live a freedom-filled life. Because while we talk a lot about the perks of entrepreneurship, we don't often share what it looks like in real life. (And let's be clear: it's not alway a perfect balance between work and play.) I'm inviting you to join in too by sharing a few things you did today in work and life in the comments below.
“Life is partly what we make it, and partly what is made by the friends we choose.”

One of the best things about sisters is all the HUGS you can share! 👩❤️💋👩⠀
I was reading the girls a book about hugging the other day, and it inspired me to research the power of hugs. I know how good I feel when I wrap someone in a bear hug, but I was amazed to learn about all of the physiological benefits that hugs can bring. ⠀
When you give someone what’s defined as a “proper” deep hug, where the hearts are pressing together, you both experience increased oxytocin and serotonin levels, a strengthened immune system, a boost in self-esteem, relaxed muscles, and a balanced out nervous system. ⠀
The power of human touch is incredible, isn’t it?!⠀
A famous family therapist is quoted as saying, “We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.”⠀
So, basically, this is a PSA to say, go hug someone (or 12 someones) today. 🙂⠀

Eating and drinking straight from nature is something incredibly special.⠀
Not only is it better for us nutritionally (nature knows best), it is spiritually and emotionally healing to connect with Mother Earth whenever we can... from fresh coconuts on the beach to simple, veggie rich foods in our everyday kitchen.
