I know I bang on about how self care is more than just long baths & face masks: that it's ALSO doing the things you know you need to do to change an unhappy situation; it's doing the work that only you can do that ultimately motivates you more than anyone else can; & it's learning & growing & becoming for your best healthy, wealthy, whole interests. Among other things 😉
But honestly (I'm actually kinda shocked that) I'm still shocked by how many people I talk to are not even doing the bath bit. Generally speaking, they aren't even taking nurturing care of themselves let alone financial or fulfillment care.
They're choosing the mindless binge TV, binge beverages, & superficial scrolling...as THE ONLY go-to's, & surprise, surprise, not even getting inspired there. Too much of this kinda chill feels UGH. Apathetic, aloof, bored, totally unempowered. It's exhausting. I know, I've been there.
Queens, let us not waste our potential by choosing habits & thoughts that seem easy but are quicksand for spiralling guilt, shame, anxiety, & numbness. We must constantly choose better. CONSCIOUSLY speak love over ourselves. Consciously make actual physical movements in another direction. Shake. It. Off.
The self care of walking a purposeful path towards your goals & dreams can be hard, feel scary AF, & requires some grit. But sweat & even tears can be washed away & soothed in a tub later!
Balance babes. A good life, a life that excites & energises you is not always going to be even - THAT'S why there's so much emphasis on the beauty sleep & spiritual side of self care. It's for leveling, not for laziness.
Sit in nature rather than on the sofa & start with "I love you & I want the best for you." "You are capable of great things." "Today, I take a step towards what I really want & I feel alive!" BACK YOURSELF to feel better, that actually emboldens action.
Start with the bath, the affirmations, the vision board, then the plan, the breakdown, then the first steps, next, & centre, step, & breathe, next, next, next...Your own rhythm CAN BE CHILL if you desire ease & grace. & it's entirely more chill to live the life of your dreams than watching others live theirs!

I have a very understanding partner that is so supportive of my career so if I have to work on the weekends sometimes it is not a drama. As long as I get my daily exercise in, and quality time with my family then I am happy to work the hours required to do my job."⠀

For those of you who know me you probably know working out-especially running- is a priority in my life. 🏃♀️
But I am definitely human and catch those winter blahs like everyone else. ❄️
I’m not a huge fan of the treadmill 🙅🏻♀️ so I try and get outside as much as I can, but it’s not always easy.
The key the last few seasons for me has been all about adjusting expectations. I may not go as fast, or as far, but getting outside is so good for me.
Combine that with getting older I found I’ve had to up my cross training and strength & conditioning to avoid getting injured. 🤕 👎🏻
Adapting and pivoting my workout schedule to be flexible not only with the demands of running my own business, managing my family and balancing a personal life- but also with the changes in season, and my body’s capabilities has been a growing and learning process for me. But my health and how it positively impacts my life makes it so worth it. 💪🏼👌 PS This post is super out of my element. One of the biggest reasons why I became a career coach wasn’t just for the people who didn’t like their jobs but also for the people who worked with people who didn’t like their jobs.⠀ Think about that for a moment.⠀ When people are unhappy in the workplace they take it out on others. They backstab, refuse to help others up the career ladder and overall emit a negative view on the workplace. It’s contagious.⠀ I have held leadership, client service and networking workshops across a number of businesses in my career and I primarily see the same behaviour. Most people are unhappy in the workplace because of their manager...or even a higher manager on the ladder. ⠀
We need to stop being rats in the rat race and start thinking outside the box, start thinking about what we want and deciding it is time to go for the job we want, the career change we want or just start doing more of what lights us up.
