The comeback is always STRONGER than the setback🖤
Anyone else experience a setback? How did you feel about it? Did it change you for the better?
For most that may not know, I was running my second marathon on Thanksgiving weekend. I had all intentions of working towards a PR and another BQ. I still get very sad knowing it was going to be my post baby Marathon as it was the same one I ran post baby no.1.
I worked really hard though out the summer up until the first week of September when I finally checked myself in to the Doctor. I truly believe most of us runners try to avoid it but honestly I am better for it because I am on the mend currently correcting my issues. It’s been quite a whirlwind of mixed emotions but my healing is my responsibility along with my happiness. I am better for it; the good, the bad, the ugly days. I have endured them all and I truly am a better person for it.....I AM STRONGER!
We all encounter tough times but we make it through it if you simply believe in yourself! You have to work at it every single day.
PT early this Am + 4 Miles on the Treadmill + 4 Mile Stroller Walk!

My most recent ‘All In’ blog post is live, ‘I am a snowball 2’, which refers to the out of control feeling that starts to grow the further into recovery you go.
The blog is an extension of the first post about the feeling of increasing anxiety - how, honestly, it hasn’t gone yet. But it is also about the steps I am taking to tackle it, because I know I cannot go back.
I thought I would share an extract here, which I hope you understand and makes sense. The full post (along with the previous blogs) is on nourishalways.com or you can follow the link in my profile/story. 'What I have begun to realise is that I don’t have to jump head first into anxiety. I can let the flames of it swirl around me and brush off my skin. As long as I keep breathing, as long as I can feel the ground beneath my feet, keep moving forwards, as calmly as I can, this will pass too...'
Have been working hard on a couple of things lately 💪. Good to get outside for a walk once in a while. Especially when the days are getting colder and the sky is blue ❄️. Love all the rosy cheeks and noses. And offcourse the hot cocoa after inside 🍫. Cosy days.

A great post by @gaithappens: "This is a very interesting article looking at how the brain is believed to combine muscle coordination patterns, termed muscle synergies, to help control the large number of muscles in the body 🤓. And yep, they demonstrated that voluntary FHL (flexor hallucis longus/big toe) is associated with synergistic anal sphincter contraction. So what does this mean 🤔? Well we know the importance of the FHL from a gait perspective as well as with foot control BUT we are also beginning to understand that the brain has a bigger plan for our tissues, like combining muscle coordination patterns during functional tasks. This could have important implications for understanding movement dysfunction❤️. Conclusion: This is one of the many reasons we are all pushing for better foot function. Barefoot training is proving to be more than just a foot thing;). Now how cool is that……"

Good morning, @andrea.acu.yogi here! I’m so happy to see so many of you excited about facial acupuncture! It’s a really wonderful tool in my tool belt. In addition to facial acupuncture I also work with fertility and women’s health as well as general health! Which could include anything from just needing a pep-up to relief from hay fever. Chinese medicine is amazingly versatile which is why I love it so much ❤️
Many health issues can be incorporated into a facial acupuncture session, as I use points on the body just like a typical acupuncture session. I’m still using the meridians to tap into the underlying systems. The only situation where I like to keep things seperate are complex cases. This can vary from person to person, but fertility is in that category. There’s often so much information to take in and it can be a delicate process in some cases, so I like to keep that as the focus. There is also times where I’ll suggest a patient come for some general appointments before receiving facial acupuncture because I really want you to get the most out of it! These are rare cases and we always figure out the best way forward between us 🙏
When it comes to chucking all the eggs in one basket conditions like, painful periods, PMS, endometriosis, PCOS (to name a few) plus facial acupuncture I can do! This is entirely up to you, but if you want to work on ya face as well as your hormones, I’m here for that.
As a Chinese medicine practitioner I’m trained to get to the core of what ails ya, so no matter what you’re coming for, I’ll always have a stack of questions to help connect all the dots.
If you’re ever curious about what you can get out of a facial acupuncture session call us! Our reception team is all over it and I’m usually around for a quick chat. Don’t forget, I offer 15 minute free skin consults.

Vitamin C is found in one of the highest concentrations in the body in the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are responsible for stress hormones so vitamin c is one of the most important nutrients for recovery after stressful events and prolonged periods of stress.
Yes its that time of year again our strawberries are in their 3rd season and still pumping out the goodness ❤ Yes strawberries are a great source of vitamin C plus many other beneficial micronutrients while being pretty low in sugars 👌
Sometimes ignorance is NOT bliss! 🤯
Less than a year ago I didn’t know anything about the Gut-Brain Connection
I didn’t know that the chemicals in our body responsible for happiness, focus, energy, sleep, mood, brain fog, and vigor were mostly produced in the gut
I didn’t know that probiotics had to be chosen by strain for best results in the body (not randomly off the shelf)
I didn’t know that there was a community of people committed to serving others...to change the stigma of mental wellness through a holistic approach
Now I know...and this knowledge is power. 🤗
It has completely transformed my life both personally and professionally...and has given me a tribe that encourages and supports me.
If you’ve been curious about how your Gut-Brain Connection can help you, or want to know about our mission ... PM me or drop a ‘ME’ in the comments below💜

Cheers! November is Diabetes Awareness Month!
Now is the perfect time to discuss Diabetes in pregnancy, which is called Gestational Diabetes (GDM). It is a huge topic, so we will cover some of the basics. Stay tuned for more posts in the future!
If you are reading this and are thinking back on that super sugary beverage you had to drink during pregnancy that tasted like flat soda... yes! That is exactly what we are talking about!
By definition, GDM is the development of intolerance to carbohydrates in pregnancy.
Gestational diabetes that can be controlled by dietary changes alone is Class GDMA1, and gestational diabetes that is controlled with medication is Class GDMA2
There is a known increased prevalence of GDM among certain racial or ethnic groups such as:
Other risk factors include:
👉Obesity (defined as a BMI > 30)
👉Family history .
Having GDM is considered a high risk pregnancy as it can put mom and baby at risk for:
👉Macrosomia (a baby that is larger than 4500g)
*All of these risks can be decreased if your blood sugars are well controlled*
How do you test for GDM?
(Back to that wonderful drink we mentioned!)
Testing is done typically between 24-28 weeks of pregnancy.
The most widely used test in the U.S. is the 1-hour Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (as seen above 🎥) It involves drinking a beverage with 50g of glucose and then undergoing a blood glucose test 1 hour later. Many women ask if they need to be fasting for this test and the answer is NO.
For those women who do not pass this test (a glucose level above 140), they will need to undergo a 3 hour glucose test. This test is the same concept as the 1 hour test but with 4 blood draws (before, 1hr, 2hr, and 3hr after drinking a 100g glucose beverage). If at least 2 of these values are elevated, then the diagnosis of GDM is made. You need to be fasting for this!
Hopefully this clears up some questions/concerns you may have. Have a good one! 👶🏻👩⚕️🤰
