A father gave his daughter a beautiful moment at her wedding. His daughter, Vanessa Wickham, feared whether he would make it to her wedding ceremony or not because he is in the final stages of the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD is a lung disease that causes breathlessness or blocks airflow to the lungs.
Lew Johnston, 65, has been suffering from COPD for the past 20 years ago. He needs 24/7 oxygen to survive. 25-year-old Vanessa and groom Mike Wickham, worried that he couldn't attend her wedding venue, Law Arrowhead, California, USA since it is 4000ft above sea level. At that high altitude, it is impossible to get air for terminally ill patients. Though Lew Johnson decided to go and check at the venue if he could cope with the high sea level. Doctors even warned him if he went to that level his lungs would collapse. Fortunately, he managed to reach the venue and found it comfortable enough to breathe well.
Having known that her father cleared the run, she became so happy.
Finally, Lew Johnston attended Vanessa wedding where his daughter danced with him in joy. Those moments made the 100 people who attended the party clap on 14 July...
Vanessa said, "We thought he wouldn’t be able to come to my wedding because of the altitude and that was such a worrying few weeks. It would have devastated me and I was so relieved when his doctors cleared him to go." Lew said, "My illness is so bad now I really am lucky to get out of the house. To walk Vanessa down the aisle was the highlight of my life. She took my breath away. I felt like I was walking on air when I was walking her down the aisle. I didn’t even notice my oxygen machine over my shoulder." Lew said: ‘When we were dancing it felt like Vanessa and I were the only people in the room.’ Vanessa said, ‘It was honestly the most special day of my life.My dad is such an inspiration to me
