If you look at a red wine under natural lighting conditions and over a white background, you’ll get a pretty accurate impression of its hue. It might be difficult to see at first, but young red wines (under 5 years) range in hue from red, to violet, to blue. You can see this hue by looking towards the edge of the wine as it hits the glass.
If you had to buy a larger wine cooler to replace the one you had, you might be a Hoarder. This type of wine drinker is great to have as a friend because they always have something around –as long as they’re willing to share. The Hoarder goes through seasonal wine shopping sprees where they buy wine by the case. Believe it or not, some Hoarders have so much wine they won’t be able to drink it all in their lifetime.

The Royal Rs of Burgundy. Armand Rousseau Ruchottes 06. Sweaty nose, red fruit jam, forest floor, mushrooms. Very sexy and airy with lovely red fruits. What an achievement for 2006.
Roumier Ruchottes 03. Sous bois, forest floor, blackberry jam. Voluptuous and packed with candied jammy fruits that made this wine more accessible.

The Léoville Poyferré 1982 is until today still my favorite vintage for this Saint Julien beauty. I had numerous bottles and only once was disappointed by a corked one. This is my last bottle and I was looking forward to opening.
This bottle didn't need any decanting, it jumped right out of the gates.
The nose had blackberries, cassis, tobacco, leather, pencil shavings and some earthy notes.
It is full bodied with mellowed tannins.
Acidity and fruit are still perfectly balanced with a good minerality to complement.
This is Saint Julien at its best, elegant, complex, still vibrant.
If you're looking for a relatively affordable Bordeaux from the legendary 1982, look no further.
