Psychiatry is the most difficult medical subject.
From other's perspective,it's only about counseling and giving advise. Anybody can do it!! Right!
Psychiatrists and mental health professionals are looked down and faced stigma & are made fun of.. Yes!! Even by our own medical fraternity.
But mental health problems and depression is surpassing cardiovascular diseases in Disability adjusted life years globally
Mental health problems are a major cause of morbidity.
Depression is the no 1 cause of suicide whatever triggers may be.
Being a psychiatrist is very challenging job because you need to undestand and know the person suffering with disease.
We invest several hours to help a person with mental illness and substance abuse.
Giving hope to a person who's contemplating suicide to continue with life needs a lot of time, effort and patience. And more importantly, it involves compassion and healing skills, that can be mastered only through years of practice and improvisation.
Every patients has a unique story and psychosocial factors maintaining his or her mental health and addictive behavior. And it takes lots of efforts on the part of doctors or therapist to help someone.
We are listening!!
We try to understand your pain
We hold no judgement.
We don't look down upon anyone.
We are here to help!! #letsbreakstigma #letsbemorecompassionate

How are we all feeling now that Lockdown seems to be coming to an end?
There seems to be such a varied opinion on this when I speak to people.
Some people are really glad and just want things back to normal as soon as possible.
Others would rather take it very slow and feel very anxious about going out again and don’t even feel happy going back out where they are not entirely control of the 2m radius, or simply just do not feel ready to be out and about again amongst people.
Lots are in between the two, know they have to go back out to the shops etc and are happy to do so but are still a bit worried about how you can make everyone social distance by 2m. They still feel a bit claustrophobic with people around them now.
Whatever your feeling is, there is no right or wrong. We really all have to take this at our own pace at how WE are feeling about it.
I always say SMALL STEPS ARE THE BEST! And I think with this situation it is more true and relevant than ever.
Just like going INTO lockdown was unprecendented times, so is coming OUT of lockdown.
No one has been here before, lived this or can tell us how we should be feeling about it.
We take this at our own pace, in our own small steps.
As we start going out a little more we can feel a bit more comfortable each time and this hopefully breaks the fear down into small achievable steps.
So if you are really worried about going out, set yourself little goals every day. Day 1 can even just be to the end of your street and back.
Build it up in whatever way makes YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE.
BE KIND TO YOURSELF
If this is a big concern or worry for you, we still have the Mental Wellbeing team available to talk to free of charge and we would be really happy to help.
Life has changed and cannot yet go back to ‘the old normal’, we have to get used to the ‘new normal’ but taking that slowly in your own pace, small steps, being kind to yourself is absolutely key.
No one is ever going to love you more than you love yourself. Take action and you will be able to love your imperfectly, perfect self. It starts with you!

Pictured you see Apache Soldiers helping out a disabled citizen. After some of our Soldiers pushed through the riots and helped with crowd control near the CNN tower last night, they held a strong point at the intersection by the Westin Hotel. Upon returning to their trucks to exfil; CPT Jerome, 1LT Thompson, SGT Stephens, and SPC Travis set their riot gear down to help a disabled protestor whose wheelchair broke and had separated from his friends.
This group of Soldiers pushed the citizen to the Westin for the staff to care for him and out of harm’s way. This is what we stand for. We are here to help.

✨OUR THOUGHTS CREATE OUR REALITY:✨
Your mind is very powerful!
The way you think about yourself turns into your reality,if you draw inaccurate conclusions about who you are and what you are capable of, you'll limit yourself. What you think directly influences how you feel and how you behave. .
Take a look at the labels you placed on yourself. The good news you are able to change how you think. Start by bringing awareness to the type of language you use daily. Simply changing the types of worlds we use can alter our inner reality and shift our perspective!
