For those that aren't aware, this is from a theory of thought called Parkinson's Law.
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗗𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗘𝗔𝗡 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦?
In a nutshell, this theory explains why the simplest of tasks can take a long time to finish if you give yourself ample time.
For instance, let's say you have to mow your lawn and you say to yourself "well I'll get this finished by Sunday". Well, guess what? This simple one hour task will take you until Sunday to do because you gave yourself that much time to do it.
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗚𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗙𝗜𝗧𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦.
Now, almost every entrepreneur follows the GAAP principle of:

If we apply the principle of Parkinson's Law to this equation your available money (revenue) will expand to fill the costs needed to run your business (expenses) and leave you with little to no room for profits.

It's simple too, just flip the equation around a little bit and it becomes... 𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙉𝙐𝙀 - 𝙋𝙍𝙊𝙁𝙄𝙏 = 𝙀𝙓𝙋𝙀𝙉𝙎𝙀𝙎
Now the available resource (revenue) will expand to fill the profits and not the expenses.
We don't take all the revenue that comes in for profit, of course, because then we couldn't pay the bills and continue to do business.
But by taking profit first, and allocating the rest accordingly, we ensure that the business is profitable and you, dearest Entrepreneur, are taking home a paycheck.
