Vanlife together is the best thing you can do! You will be together all day and all night in a very small space which can sound scary at first. Of course there are some days where you are annoyed but believe me that is normal. But you really get to know each other and if you get along while traveling on the road in a van, you will probably get along everywhere 😂🧡! We originally thought we would hang in Minnesota and explore the boundary waters for a little before it got too cold but after a few days being there we were over it. Luna started getting sick, the weather was rainy and 30 degrees colder than what we were used to and we were having trouble finding free places to sleep (we rarely pay for parking at night). I guess it’s safe to say we just didn’t vibe with the place. Maybe we’ll go back another time of year but this is another reason why it’s so nice to not be tied down to a specific place and to have the freedom to go wherever whenever. We are working our way to Colorado where we plan to be for the next month or so and we’re very excited! However, I keep hearing about altitude sickness 🤔🥴 so I’m trying to be ahead of the game and learn as much as I can.
Has anyone ever experienced it before? What should we do to prepare?
Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
The window is in! 🙌
Cutting a hole in the side of our van certainly goes against all instincts 🙈 but the just look at the result!! This was our first window fitting so we thought we'd share some lessons learnt... 📐Measure twice, cut once! •
🛠Get the right tools. We used a drill for pilot holes and a jigsaw to cut the metal. We were armed with plenty of spare bits expecting lots of breakage but we only replaced the bit once! •
❗Buy suction fitters! We didnt and it made the actually fitting of the window to the panel incredibly fiddly •
👉Most importantly - it may seem daunting but its not as hard as it seems! We had absolutely no experience but with the help of some youtube videos we managed it. It was a great experience and much cheaper than getting it fit by professionals. •
Now onto the next challenge... insulation 😬
Heute mal Vanlife weniger idyllisch.
🇬🇧 This is what you see when we open Terra to the rest of the world. No, the fridge (that blue and grey thingy on the left) was not supposed to be sticking out of the cabinetry. Sometimes things don't go exactly according to plan and this is the way it turned out. 🤭
This spot is another hidden gem along South Australia’s coastline. These beautiful Gannets are the only colony on mainland Australia and they are great to watch. We were lucky enough to bump into one of the volunteers who looks after them throughout the year and got to get closer to them. This time of year is breeding season so it was hella busy in there!
