Unbelievably proud of these two. Strong, speedy & full of grit - they brought it home under 15hours. Somehow they managed to hold a cracking pace looking fresh faced & smiling. Such an inspiring day watching you crush the #UTA100 ❤️😭🙌💥 Well done legends xx
Since UTA in May I have been revisiting Cate Campbell's words on failure and trying to apply them to myself. "Let's change the way we view failure. It's seen as a dirty word. Something we should be ashamed of. But let me tell you, it takes a hell of a lot of time, effort, diligence, perseverance and above all, courage to get to a place where failure is possible. Because it is the same place where success is possible." Here I am at the 57km CP at UTA with the doctor prodding my knee to assess it after my stack. I felt so disappointed in myself for my DNF. And all the questions, could I have kept enough pace to go sub 14, if I had sub 13 dangling over me could I have found more in the end or maybe I'd just blow up?! I don't know and I never will.
If I played it safe or never over reached beyond what I thought I could do, well I just don't think I'd be content with that. So I just have to learn to deal with the failures a little better.

Thumbs up for a great training weekend in the Blue Mountains! 🥳 Last weekend I was meant to run the six foot track marathon, that got cancelled, but decided to go down anyway to get some good training in preparation for UTA in May, which now is cancelled as well. Yeah it sucks a bit but it is what it is and now all there is is to move on and hope for the best. I know there will be events at some point this year and I’m excited to continue training hard and keep focused! Wohoo! 💃🏼
Went for a cool group run tonight as part of the local WoRM group. A bit of up and a bit of down, and all good fun.
But looking through the group's Meetup page, I rediscovered my profile and this picture.
I joined this group back in June 2017, the day after my first and only official road marathon, in order to attend an organised run featuring my mate @malsadventures
As you can see in the second image, I was building up to my first ultra - the 50km at Tarawera in November. And a month before that, and also as a result of this Meetup group, I attended @runfestnz where I had the chance to listen, watch, learn and be inspired by @yellowrunner , @billyyangfilms and @jonospulse amongst many others.
Great memories and lessons I still refer to and use during every run. I had really caught 'the bug' by then. And this was before I'd disovered Instagram too! 😉
Exploring the blueys with my ❤️.
Feeling for all the communities and race organisers who have to cancel their running events at the moment. What a strange time we're living in.
Regardless of what transpires, training is not a waste. Something positive to take from the situation: it's an important reminder to enjoy and appreciate the process, not just the destination.❤️🙏
A quick overlap of the fire-affected areas in the Blue Mountains with the Ultra-Trail Australia @UTAAUS 100km course suggests that significant parts of the trail between CP1 (km11) and CP3 (km46) have either already been burnt out or remain under threat. #UTA100 #nswfireshttps://twitter.com/NSWRFS/status/1211552428660838401 …
I was waiting for this decision. A bit bummed but its totally understandable!
I will just have to wait a bit longer before I conquer UTA100! 🙂
Stay safe everyone, and keep running 😁

Love what you do and you will never work a day in your life.
Grateful to be working with such a great team and continuing to develop and implement the most comprehensive running analysis to the community.
We are continuing to add more technology to our clinical analysis to ensure every runner we see is receiving the most elite level of treatment.
This is why I became a physiotherapist to help people achieve their individual goals.

"As we strive for new summits, I implore us all to begin acknowledging the presence of our emotions and the role they play as we near ‘the edge’." A throw back to an article I wrote for Travel Play Live - Women's Adventure & Lifestyle just days before my first 100km race. There's no doubting we've likely all got a tough few months ahead of us, in this article I write about how much of endurance is physical or mental, and the role emotions play in our pursuit of success.
On the road!! Excited for a fun training weekend at the Blue Mountains for Kev’s UTA100!! #trailrunners#dreamscometrue#livingthebestlife dieselenginedanddusty natalie._.hardy https://www.instagram.com/p/B9aOZk3HhgK/?igshid=kvfpm65vztgr …

Came across these beautiful images of me running 70km ultra marathon in shimla, India in 2016!!!!!!
Thank you @heather.d66 for this amazing review quote on my book. Heather Duffy is a scientist and first person to give me an honest feedback in an extremely long email. I am so grateful to have met her at surf coast century last year when we ran 100km together. It means so much to me, hope we all stay safe, wash our hands, wear mask if necessary and of course read books, the world is facing tough times but tough times don’t last forever, buy my book now and hopefully it will be available in libraries after few months!!!!
Jump on http://www.thebodymechanic.com.au and join up to their Locker Room. You can get really good training programs for the UTA50 or UTA100 specific for the race. Mark Green the trainer is a guru at trail running. I did the 100 last year and signed up again!
