Kids had their first video tutorial sessions over the weekend. While my kids feedback that it is manageable, they still prefer physical class time.
They find that their tutors were able to effectively conduct the tutorial over video. However, some students had their video blocked out, which makes it challenging for the tutor to see if they are keeping up with the lesson plan.
We parents can help them with these supports:
1️⃣ Help them with the technology set-up if this is the first time they are entering a virtual classroom. Set up ahead of class time so they don’t miss out on the sessions with their tutor.
2️⃣ Remind them to be physically presentable even though they are not leaving the house for tuition.
3️⃣ Teach them HOW to mute/unmute, adjust the speakers or volume and tilt the camera so that they are within camera frame. Some kids are camera shy.

MAKE GOOD HABITS SIMPLE!
We know the lockdown can be tough, but here are some things to stay healthy and happy during this time
1. Stay home: Keep your friends and family safe by doing your part in social distancing
2. Create a routine: Try and wake up, study, eat, exercise and sleep at the same time. Creating good habits will help maintain normalcy in your day
3. Eat Healthy: Try new recipes with lots of fruits and vegetables and eat nutritious foods to keep your energy up
4. Exercise: Keep moving and plan indoor activities like yoga to keep you healthy
5. Learn from home: Schedule some time every day for a lesson. Remember even from home you can still stay on top of your learning!
Overseeing a class in itself is a feat, let alone doing so through a screen. Thankfully, with the help of our tutors and cooperation of both students and parents, our online lessons have successfully managed to bring RMSS classrooms to the comfort of our students’ homes. 😊 Here’s Ms Karmen giving a class on how to identify polyesters!

Dear Centers owners and Tutors,
In light of heightened measures released by the Ministry of Health regarding Safe distancing measures, all centre-based tuition and enrichment classes have been suspended until 30th April 2020, to reduce the intermingling of students from different schools and enhance the safety of students.
mysavvytutor is committed to supporting the local and international student and teaching communities by providing affordable online supplementary lessons. We hope to offer mysavvytutor as an alternative solution for the centers’ owners, so you could continue your business without disruption.
Thank you for your support and please do not hesitate to reach out to us through social media (FB, IG, LinkedIn @mysavvytutor), send a message to +65 96707326 or email to [email protected]

slashing the rates just for YOU! in this season of heightened anxiety, we’ve made adjustments ever since we shifted our lessons online.
reason being? we believe your interests are our priority. unlike other centers, we’ve reduced our rates to ensure you’ll be charged for what you’ve paid for. nope, this doesn’t reduce the quality of our lessons, but it’s just cuz there’s no longer access to our comfortable lounge 😭
so come give us a try online today!

While we are happy with the seamless transition to online tutoring so far, nevertheless with the benefit of a grand total of 4 days' worth of videoconferencing hindsight, The Temple would like to lay down the following rules in order to make future online sessions even more fruitful and better for all students:
Before each online joss sticks session:
1. Access your assigned worksheets from our online portal.
2. Complete and submit your assigned homework before the session so that we can go through them during the session. Avoid doing last-min Buddha foot-hugging submissions 5 min before the session and expect us to perform last-min Buddha foot-hugging marking in return.
3. Ensure your hardware i.e. speakers, mic and camera are working properly *before* each session. We don't particularly enjoy monologues.
4. Ensure your device is fully charged for the duration of the session. It's quite troubling when you suddenly perform an Infinity War-styled vanishing act.
During the joss sticks session itself:
1. "Join" the meeting on time.
2. It's compulsory to turn on your video. We've had enough of blind dates and second-guessing if the persons hiding behind those mysterious black boxes had really understood the lesson or not. Or worse, if the persons are actually there ... 3. Using a picture of any kind (incl. cartoon, anime characters) to represent you in place of a black screen is not allowed as well.
4. Use YOUR OWN NAME when you join. I don't recall having a student named "Sylvanas Windrunner". 5. Avoid using filters to touch-up your face esp if they result in you looking really horrifying.
6. Avoid attending the session from outer space or the beach or any virtual background you decide to upload. It's distracting.
7. Do NOT try to trick us with looping videos of you pretending to pay attention or do your work.
8. Same goes with low-tech screenshots of you "studying". Thank you for your cooperation in making every session a fruitful one in these trying times.
PS> this list shall be updated whenever new infractions occur 😑

(Online math lecture). It turns out online live lecture seems to be more effective than a mass lecture in school. I can easily ask a question and students can easily give their responses.
Students can also just type their questions and the lecturer can address them during short in between breaks.
It is a good 2 way communicating lesson rather than a monotonous one way teaching in a conventional lecture.
I am using Google meet which has limited collaborating channels but I think it can be enhanced using other Google apps such as Jamboard.

COVID-19 CAN’T DESTROY US AND THE WORLD 😤🤟🏻alright, all jokes aside, as all schools close and engage on HBL this week, we’re wishing that everyone remains safe, healthy, and practice social responsibility and distancing. nonetheless, we’ve got some pretty doped reviews straight from our students for our online classes. your feedback remains valuable to us. or even better, check out our google reviews 🤪
WHY do we NEED to get our PIANO TUNED? How often?
When you buy a piano (new or used), it needs to be tuned at least once a year (twice is best). It’s a kind of a way to keep an eye on its overall health.
Concert pianos are tuned before each performance, and pianos in recording studios are tuned at least 2 or 3 times a week to keep them in optimal performance condition.
Get in touch with us now and get your piano tuned by professional technician from Classique Music & Match

Most successful students implement and use note-taking methods that are effective and efficient so that they can study better. In this blog post, we shared 3 effective note-taking strategies. Of course, these note-taking strategies are not just applicable to studying and exams, they are also beneficial in the long-term.
When I finally gave birth to my fifthborn, Baby Trisya in March 2020, it coincided with the Gov's suspension of bars, discotheques, enrichment & tuition centres in Singapore, in light of the burgeoning Covid-19 situation in our country.
I am heartened that we have a Government that cares for the lives of not only our students and their families, but also that of the tutors and the tutors' families.
Now that ALL schools & IHLs are being suspended too, from 8 April to 4 May, and HBL will also be fully implemented by them(just like how MYEC also ran HBL for our MYEC kids since 27/3/20), let us take this quiet time to care for the people who matter to us, in the comfort and safety of our havens, our homes.
Most parents and non-parents are also WFH, thanks to our forward-looking Government.
We are not victims. We are captains of our destiny. Let us play our part.
The Government has stepped in to help Sgporeans tide through this difficult time.
We are all in this together, as a nation.
As I go about resting during my maternity leave with my fifthborn child, Baby Trisya, I also hope that everyone of you will have a good bonding time with your loved ones in the safety of home.
We must all play our part to practise social distancing and be safe from the evil Covid-19 virus.
To all my students, I did not expect you to be home too as I go about on my maternity leave! How sweet!! This is all fate! Allah understands that I need to recover and you need to revise at home with your parents dearest!
Allah's Plans are always The Best.
You don't have mid year exams so you have a longer time to study. But still, prepare for your final year exam. Consistently and slowly, you will get there.
Be safe. Take care.
See you in May, sweet students. Or soon. Whatever that Allah wills, whenever it will be, then it shall be.
Love you all, my dearest students. ❤❤❤ Always for you,
Ms Yayah. 😍😍😍

At SGtutoring, the student’s learning is our utmost priority 💯 We strive to provide the most suitable tutor to tutor and mentor the student.
With the recent strict safe-distancing measures announced by PM Lee’s “Circuit Breaker” on 03 April 2020, we have also encouraged our tutors to shift lessons to online platforms. Stay safe & healthy everyone! ❤️
Engaging and monitoring students through a screen is not an easy task. Nevertheless, our tutors goes the extra mile to make things more fun for our students. Here's @mr.alexander.ho with a wig 🤣 Swipe right for some of his feedback from parents!
