Starting my @ironmantri Indian Wells 70.3 race report with the bike for #timetrialtuesday. The bike has become my favorite + absolutely loved the new addition of the #thermalracetrack to the course. One of my goals going into this race was a sub 3 bike split. Got it with a 2:55 / 19.3 mph official split. 8 minutes faster than last year. The first few miles out of transition were a little bumpy, but after that is was pretty much flat + fast with a few u-turns. I felt strong + steady the entire 56 miles. I passed a lot of people and the best was when one guy yelled “If I’m getting chicked at least its #bettysquad!” “Go Betty!” 😂👌🏻#badassisbeautiful .

When you open the front camera. Lmaoooooo my face tho
Over the past few years I have had friends, family and social media peeps tell me they enjoy following my adventures or living vicariously through my journey. I feel sometimes though that many of us fail to show the real life aspects on social media. It isn’t always track sessions, hard bike rides and trips to remote race locations. Sometimes it’s mundane crap like battling the common cold. You know, being a little whiney and not wanting to move 🤒 or do anything. Or in my case wanting to do everything but knowing you probably shouldn’t 😬. I think the stress of an end of season #IRONMAN, moving across the country and exiting the Army all in the same week was a bit much. When I planned the season though, there was no telling where everything would fall or how the timelines would workout. Part of the reason I pulled the plug at #IMAZ. I just felt at that moment I was asking too much of my body and the end result was a bout skin infections and now an upper respiratory infection. The skin issues are a recurring gift of college wrestling when under stress 🤕🤬😢 Last night I was feeling a bit stronger though and went for a hot yoga class; my mind and soul was thankful. This afternoon I came to visit @officially_mrsmudek at the hospital and to bring her lunch. The trip to her office seemed like a nice thing to do and a way to escape the couch 😇 as much as I love laying with all the animals.
When it comes to upper respiratory infections or illnesses “below the neck” the recommendation is not to workout. This can be a bit of a struggle for me so I have been trying to stay busy reconnecting with my pets after a few years apart, reading up on the latest nutritional research, and knocking out online webinars and classes. Got to make the best of what life throws at us. In the 📷 I am catching a @masterclass lecture while Amanda checks on a patient.
Danke 🙏! Wir sehen uns Heiligabend zum Brunch und Frühstückslauf in Moers 😉🏃♀️! Freu mich auf euch! #bunertbande#lauffreunde
