#withalittlehelp from my sister
Living BI-coastal, with work on the West Coast and family on the East Coast, is a great adventure, and, can be tiring at times.
I love exploring local coffee ☕️ shops and found @sisterscoffee - when @holdolz came to visit me recently, she bought me a gift certificate so I could fuel up on my favorite almond milk lattes with cardamom - I call it carda-yum!!!
Too cheesy? Well, anyway!
What other restaurants and experiences should I check out in @portland ??? .
How do you like to explore a new city and get the local “flavor”?

I HAVE A VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF LEADERSHIP…
This vision is something that I’ve seen with absolute clarity in my dreams and in 🌱ceremony for the past 2-years.
I see a new paradigm for leadership…
... one that involves leaders being vs. doing because they’re brave enough to walk through the fire before they ask their audience to do so…
… a paradigm that drops leaders into a profound depth of integrity and authenticity because they truly value their audience.
I see a collective of leaders growing together and supporting one another because they understand that their ripple of impact can go further when they RISE TOGETHER…
… leaders who value collaboration over competition, and connection over division.
I see this vision clearly. I FEEL this paradigm shift in the depths of my soul.

👉🏽You’re tired of doing things ‘THEIR’ way.
👉🏽The shady tactics online leave a bad taste in your mouth.
👉🏽You’re determined to build your audience + movement in an aligned AF way because you value integrity and authenticity above all else.
👉🏽And you’re seeking a community of like-minded leaders to surround yourself with—people who are ready + excited to support you, your vision, and your mission.
To those leaders… 𝐈 𝐒𝐄𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔. And I invite you to be part of this new paradigm in leadership.
The Thought Leader Collective is an intimate community of leaders who are DEVOTED to their inner-growth, their missions, and each other...
...leaders who are using their platform for purpose and are seeking more aligned ways to create a movement around their message.

Celebrate the BIG wins as well as the small ones, because it's the small steps that lead to big milestones. Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla shares these words of wisdom in the following quote.
#AdityaBirlaGroup #BigQuote #WednesdayWisdom #ThoughtLeadership #LeadersSpeak
🔀Our job as designers has evolved. We have far more people we need to interact with, far more opinions to take into account and a very high expectation to be collaborative.
✏️We need to sharpen our people skill set. As creatives we might be happy taking risks, being wrong and jumping into the uncertain, but many aren't comfortable with this mindset.
🗣️ By learning psychological principles & it's biases, will help bring others into our mindset
- 👩🏫There are 6 different types of cognitive bias that can prevent us from true collaboration and creativity. (12 overall but these 6 effect creatives the most)
1️⃣ Confirmation Bias
2️⃣ Bandwagon Effect
4️⃣ Negativity Bias
5️⃣ Observational Selection Bias
6️⃣ Anchoring Effect
⚓️One in particular that resonated with me was the ‘Anchoring effect’
🧠When you solve a problem, a chemical reaction occurs in your brain. Similar to a dopamine effect. This chemical reaction emotionally binds you to your solution. Which will make you unconsciously bias towards that idea.
🙁Yep, we've all been there. That relentless need to stick and push forward on an idea or concept, which let's face it, is probably not the right one & is holding you back from discovering the right solution.
🗝️The key is to *know* that this science occurs
🔑The key is to be aware of it
🔐The key is having this ability to step back from yourself & even *gasp* make others aware of it in themselves
- 💊Methodologies like ‘Design Thinking’ & ‘Sprints’ are the perfect anecdote. To bring us outside of ourselves and allow us all to focus on the problem at hand.
⚓The Anchoring Effect
🤔When you solve a problem you get a hit of dopamine.
👉 This causes you to ‘marry’ that
⛔️Be aware of this bias when solving design problems

Uggggh... I cannot stand small-talk.
The truth is...
most people engage in this because they’re too scared to let down their guard and let people in.
It takes COURAGE to start a meaningful conversation. But I promise... once you do, you’ll never settle for small-talk again.
Be courageous enough to start a meaningful conversation.

A colleague who always thinks they’re right can be extremely frustrating. There are a few ways to keep the relationship productive and professional. .
The next time you find yourself in a debate with this person, don’t fight back — escalating an argument won’t change their behavior. Instead, let the conversation come to an end, and then meet with your colleague after you’ve had some time to reflect. .
Explain how their actions make you feel. You might say: “When we’re on different sides of an issue, you assert your views so strongly that I shut down. It would help me to know that you’re hearing my views too, even if we don’t agree.” Managers should consider how company culture may be contributing to the problem. .
If your culture prizes certainty or is especially competitive, the person’s behavior is probably to be expected. Help the team dynamic by asking everyone to come to discussions with both pros and cons about the topic. That will ensure no one can cling to one point of view. .

Alexis Charles-Henri-Maurice Clérel, Viscount de Tocqueville 1805 – 1859) was a French diplomat, political scientist and historian. He was best known for his works Democracy in America (appearing in two volumes, 1835 and 1840) and The Old Regime and the Revolution (1856). In both, he analyzed the improved living standards and social conditions of individuals as well as their relationship to the market and state in Western societies. Democracy in America was published after Tocqueville's travels in the United States and is today considered an early work of sociology and political science.

The weather is shifting. The seasons are transitioning. It feels like change is in the air....
I don’t know about you, but it feels like the year has just flown by.
Before the year is out, I’ve still got a few things I want to achieve and align back to. Recently I've been asking myself questions like:
How have I been spending time this year?
Am I working on what REALLY matters?
Am I wasting my time?
How am I holding myself back?
How can I do things better and with more pleasure? (Thanks to my friend @ainslieyoung for the inspo on this!)
If you're thinking about the rest of the year and whether you're really on track in your personal life, work, family, friendships, health etc, come and check out the blog to learn how you can do a 3-minute quarterly review and closeout strong in 2019.

Before working with Andi in the Stalling to Falling in ❤️ Starter Series, I was struggling with how to online date after my divorce since I had not dated in decades.
I wanted to learn to date with intention so I could find guys that matched up with me as well as avoid falling back into my old patterns of hiding myself with men. I wanted to go have fun instead of sitting home alone.
After working with Andi, I was much more clear than I originally was ( she pulls it out of you when you are hemming and hawing around ) on what I am looking for in a man to spend time with and what I was available for in a relationship. I am now dating a few guys and getting to know them ( and myself as well ) and having a fun time.
Andi even taught me what to do when a guy was not acting interested in me how to handle it in a direct and fun way so that I could make conscious choices and not a bunch of assumptions and have more choices!
Andi sees the big picture and long term results I was looking and ready for. She also unpacks the hidden gems I could not see that kept me blocked as well as challenged me when ready from a loving place.
I would say in many respects she is very clear herself and able to hold space for me while I waffled around sometimes and needed a nudge.
