In the Hebrew language, the word for speech is “dibbur,” which is closely connected to the word “davar,” which means an actual thing. In fact, the derivation of the popular magical saying, “Abracadabra” is of Hebrew or Aramaic origin and a combination of two words, “A’bra K’dabara,” which mean “I will create as a I speak.” Through this we can glean that our words are powerful and actually create our physical reality. We’re often naturally wired to see the glass as half empty and verbalize our concerns negatively, but with practice we can strengthen our frontal lobes and retrain our brains to positively flip and uplift our script. Let’s be more cognizant of what we say and try to elevate the everyday phrases we use to give life, boosting ourselves and the people around us.

Mental health day
I say this and will say this over and over. You should spend just as much time making sure you are mentally healthy as you do physically.
I am fighting a constant war in mind everyday
My life expectancy is 40 something
One chest infection could put me in hospital for 2 weeks and take me away from my home
Is this cough something I should be worried about?
How is it going to feel not being able to breathe?
Will I need a lung transplant?
When will all these ‘break throughs’ actually have an impact on my life?
Everyone has their own battles and wars. The best thing you can do is simply speak to someone and let them know if you are winning or losing.
Don’t be another statistic
Use the gift that humans have! Speech!
Today is World #mentalhealthday. I cannot emphasise enough just how important it is to look after yourself not just physically but mentally too. When I lost my brother 5 years ago my whole world was turned upside down. A situation and feeling that you can never ever prepare for & how on earth would you?! I’ve always said and stand by there is no right or wrong way to grieve or deal with grief.
For me though, my lifeline was & remains to be exercise & sport. I found going for a run, doing a class or training session not only provided an outlet for me to think & process, but also sometimes the time to do simply nothing but solely focus on what I was doing that moment. I also found it gave me structure, in what was a totally alien & emotionally chaotic time in my life.
I’m not saying exercise will fix you or your pain, but it’s a great tool to help you through difficult times, whether that be in work or your personal life. If you are struggling, why not try going for a walk, a run or even a gym class.
