💙 (Story): “Hello everyone! My name is Mariama and I’m a senior at Ohio State University. I was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. I struggled when I was little growing up with my cleft and wondered why God chose me. It also was difficult for me because I haven’t really seen many other African Americans who have a cleft. And actually, when I had surgery last year, my surgeon told me that African a Americans are the least affected by cleft. I’m learning everyday to be more confident in myself and I’ve learned that the only way to do that is to have a positive outlook on yourself and life! I am #CleftProud!” 💙 How many surgeries have you or your child had? Comment below! 💙

Hi Everyone! My name is Bushra, and I am a D1 at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Putting on a white coat means putting patients first and "do no harm" To me, it also symbolizes the struggles I have been through, hard work, determination, and the tears I shed to get here, and of course my mom's prayers. I wouldn't be here without my family support.
Please feel free to reach out to me! Looking forward to helping any way I can!

Congrats to my best friend on getting her white coat this past weekend!!👩🏽⚕️💗 I am so incredibly proud of you and everyone that just got coated for y’alls accomplishments thus far. It really feels like it was just yesterday that I was at that exact same ceremony but for my class and now I’m almost halfway done with D3... ?!Time FLIES! Also fun fact: Our school used to have white coat ceremony during 2nd year to signify the transition from lab to clinic but because of the new curriculum being implemented, students now get their white-coats during 1st year since they’ll be starting in clinic from D1. This year was an exception where D1’s and D2’s got their coats on the same day since they’re in the process of transitioning!

Iridodonesis is a condition in which the iris (coloured part of the eye) vibrates during eye movements. Upon moving the eye rapidly, the iris can appear to ‘dance’, or ‘tremble’ (tremulousness). This occurs when the lens becomes partially detached (lens subluxation) from its suspensory ligaments. This itself is often asymptomatic and only becomes apparent upon physical examination of the eye. @medcast
The primary cause of iridodonesis is the subluxation of the lens. This may occur as a result of glaucoma, cataract formation, post-surgical complications, or trauma to the eye.
Since iridodonesis is a direct consequence of lens subluxation, treating the cause of the detachment by surgical approaches may help reduce the tremulousness of the iris.
