Surfing while you are pregnant, are you crazy 🙃 ????? From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I decided I wanted to keep surfing for as long as I could! I asked my doctor if I could surf and she said YES.
I am not saying that every girl should start surfing when they get pregnant. but surfing is something that I've done half of my life and I feel pretty confident doing.
The funny part is that a lot of people became self- proclaimed Doctors and started telling me what I could and couldn't do.
Of course, I am very aware that the amount of risk taken In the water needs to be reduced to almost zero and I couldn’t surf massive Puerto Escondido this summer. 🤷🏾♀️
But I think we live in a misinformed world that thinks that “ALL pregnant girls should stay at home and rest ”
During the 2 months I was surfing Puerto, I got injured once. It was on a 4-foot day, due to a sixty-year-old Australian Psycho guy high on drugs that attacked me in the water and tried to drown me (true story, to be told later). The reason why I'm telling this story because I was shocked on a lot of people response ;
'This is why you should be surfing when you are pregnant”.🤮
As if it was my fault because I got assaulted that day in the water.
Then, maybe I shouldn’t walk while being pregnant just in case I fall and break a bone? 🤷🏾♀️
B.S the point of this essay is that;
People are always the first ones to criticize your decisions but only a few would come and help you when you need it.
Chose carefully who you take advice from because no one knows your body better than yourself.
People can only judge based on their experience or lack of it.
So, don’t ever let anyone tell you shouldn’t do something that you feel confident doing and makes you happy.
In this fast-changing world, all we can do is stay true to ourselves 🥰
And to all those self Proclaimed doctors you guys can go eat a bag of DO -DO....juaaaaa juaaaaaaa 💩 📸 @mariafernandaphoto
