An athlete is built through a lot of hard work and pain. ⠀
Here are some of the characteristics that you probably have 😂⠀
For you, what is the most important characteristic an athlete needs to have? ⠀
For me, it is having a winner mindset! Because only by having it, you are able to be cofident, be commited, work hard, be persistent, lead, learn, and be calm under pressure. ⠀

Flow is one of the most important principles in performance. It has been defined as “the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by the complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting loss in one's sense of space and time”
When challenge and skill meet you are in the “flow channel” this sets you up for flow and peak performance. Getting into flow is critical for short and long term success.
These photos have some great info on flow, if your bored in practice make it more challenging. If your anxious focus on increasing specific skills you can have confidence in. The more you learn and develop skill the more you can increase challenge. The more challenges increase the more skill you need to develop. Ask yourself
1) What skills do I need to work on to match the challenge in front of me?
2) How can I challenge myself to utilize my skills better?

📣Your attitude is a choice, and it’s YOUR choice.
🏆Success is more likely to happen with “the will to win”. However this is not worth anything at your matches without your 🗓 DAILY commitment to do what it takes. Your habit is HOW you are, and that shapes WHO you are.
✨Nobody’s perfect, but PURSUE EXCELLENCE, in your skills, and your attitude✨
✊🏼Respect the sport, your teammates, coaches, managers, officials, and most importantly, respect YOURSELF.
🗯Your desire to win will have to come with FOCUS👀, CONCENTRATION👤 and DETERMINATION 💪🏻 in everything you do. It's so that you can apply these same qualities during a game🥇
Every task, every activity, every challenge is an opportunity to set a goal🥅, to try something new and to achieve.
Something to think about: Are you INVOLVED with this team? or are you COMMITTED to this team?

Hi, I’m Blogga da Hoopa.
Former Hoopa - Now a Blogga.
I’ll be talking sports around here so buckle up and enjoy the ride.
Before I get started, I thought It would be a fantastic idea to start off introducing myself and telling you guys all about my sport qualifications. Well I’m going go ahead and sum it up and save us some time by simply confessing that I’m not a former college or professional basketball player, but I like to think of myself as former ABOVE AVERAGE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PHENOM. By now you’re probably thinking to yourself how the hell you ended up here or why you keep reading my not so convincing qualifications. Oh. What was that? I heard you. Yes, you in the back?
Random 29-year-old reader: “You’ve only mentioned one qualification and I’m pretty sure it doesn’t even cou…” LET ME STOP YOU RIGHT THERE SIR… or young man. I mean, is 29 still young for us?
Is 29 the new 39? 29 always seems to be known as PRIME YEARS for hoopers, but for us commoners 29 feels like the end of an ERA. I’m not even 29, but I kind of feel like it. In fact, I can’t even remember my age right now, so let’s just pretend that I am in fact 29. - Currently unemployed with a master’s degree. - Boat load of DEBT (Which causes STRESS and ANXIETY).
- Quarter Life Crisis.
- Looking for something I’m passionate about.
- Finding myself.
The twenties can be rough, but I’ve been listening to a couple Pod Casts here and there. Turns out our generation (sorry old timers, but keep on reading) are more inclined to pursue activities or job opportunities that feel meaningful to who? TO ONESELF.
It may not appear from one day to another. You can’t seem to rush these sorts of things. Life can be unexplainable at times, but one should battle on. Just like you shout and cheer for your squad on a basketball game on TV (which is completely normal) sometimes you need to find the time to cheer yourself on, find the motivation to carry on and pull off that COMEBACK WIN IN OVERTIME AND GO FOR THE GIRL YOU LOVE… just like Shane Falco (The Replacements | 2000 Comedy – Drama / Sport).
Jokes aside… Remember to pat yourself in the back once in a while. If you’re currently... ⬇
ACP Hockey player/ coach Bryce Ebert with a monster goal and even better celly to help his team bring out the brooms for the sweep on the weekend. Watching this has me wishing I still played to score a goal 😂 I love it.
Let go of the thoughts that do not make you strong. 🗯 #limitingfactor⠀
So many people fight to keep their limitations. Do you? it can be hard to let go of the thoughts that don’t make us strong. These thoughts can often a help us feel safe, even though they hold us back, because they keep us in our comfort zones. We often tell ourselves a story, whether it be true or not, they keep us from growing and push us to remain in stagnant waters. Here are a few of the most common self limiting beliefs I hear from Clients:⠀
🚫 I can’t lose weight because...⠀
🚫 I have to have something sweet before bed.⠀
🚫 I don’t have time to workout.⠀
🚫 My Partner doesn’t want to eat healthy so it’s impossible for me to change this at home.⠀
🚫 I have (pick a number, any number) of kids so I can’t sleep more, it is what it is.⠀
If you fight for your limitations 🥊 then you’ll get to keep them. If you tell yourself a different version, then you‘re taking control of YOUR choices and writing your own story. 📗 Do any of these sound familiar to you? Do you have any limitations that you fight to keep in your life? ⠀
I’m going to be addressing some of these over the next few days and would love to hear what you struggle with the most. If you’re going through it then AT LEAST 100 others are too! Let’s address these limitations together and write a better version of this story where YOU are in control! 🙌⠀

In May 2018, the NBA and NBPA announced its first ever Mental Health and Wellness Program aimed at supporting the overall mental health and wellness of the league’s players. Dr. William D. Parham is the inaugural director of the program and has developed a rigorous 4-step plan for the players. His goal is to change the narrative and highlight that a player’s performance improves when their mental health does too. 🏀 #mindoverball
