Women are missing from much of the history we learn in school. Even in my discipline, Art History, noteworthy women artists are those that broke into a man's field.
What were the other 99% of women doing? Well, for a long time, over much of the world, they were #spinning.
Using wool and plant fibers and all different types of #spindles women made thread for clothes, nautical ropes and sails, woven tapestries and blankets.
It is unsurprising that many became #entrpreneurial, making their skills lucrative and preserving their self-sufficiency.
With my small #handspunyarn business, I stand on the shoulders of these independent and strong women.
