Colorful coral. Exotic fish. Tiny bubbles. I’ve never snorkeled or scuba dived, but I’m thinking maybe there’s some vibrant inspiration under water? #makestuff

Truth be told, I missed the first year of this sweet girl’s life. In my defense, your first year as a new parent is an automatic blur of exhaustion. 😂 Add to that the fact that we had moved to a new state to plant a church, lost a job during the recession and were living on $500 a month of income, food stamps and the financial help of family, friends and whatever I could pull in as a relocated wedding photographer (in between nursing of course). So...you could say there was a lot going on that year. 🤦🏻♀️ But do you know what I remember? I remember resenting the demands of a newborn because I had a business to run that made me feel more competent and important than nursing and changing diapers all day.
I didn’t resent my work for taking me away from her - I resented her for taking me away from work I enjoyed.
Heart breaking right? 💔
The facts was, I went into parenting thinking that nothing about my work habits needed to change. I could do it all simultaneously right?
More than that, I saw that while my HEART was for being a mom and wife, my propensity (Enneagram 3 over here 🙋🏻♀️) was to give myself more freely to building and achieving than loving and nurturing.
This was when I realized things HAD to change. Boundaries had to be put in place so that I would not forfeit enjoying the gift of motherhood for the fleeting satisfaction of work accomplishment.
This began 10 years of training my heart and my calendar to conform to the direction I knew I truly wanted to go.
I’m working on something that will help other moms who are nodding their heads while reading this. Can you relate? I’ve asked a few questions in my stories that I would love your feedback on. ☺️

Today is my first day as a FULL TIME ARTIST with my business. I am so overjoyed about this and relishing every minute of it. I took so many photos just now trying to be all cute for Instagram but this is the first one I took. It truly captures my excitement. •
This day has been a long time coming. I’ve prioritized keeping my studio and putting the long hours in on top of my other jobs for 7 years now. When they say it takes hard work and dedication to create your dreams, they weren’t kidding. I think this is the thing I’m most proud of myself for; never giving up, even when it feels like a mound of debt, bills and missed opportunities are crashing down on you. KEEP GOING! Your dreams are valuable. And Jesus sees them and wants to partner with you! Once I allowed that to happen and gave my business to God, the floodgate of customers came in. So amazing, I am blown away everyday. God is so so so good. I hope that encourages someone today ♥️♥️♥️
What are your dreams??? I find that when I speak them out loud and write them down, they happen! It’s actually statistically 95% more likely that your dreams will come into fruition if you write them down!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 so tell me what they are! 🤗

Fact of the day - We came across a recent @forbes article that claims women-led startups on average raised 36X LESS than those founded by men...UGH. BUT, despite this funding gap, they mention that startups founded by women have been shown to perform better over time. So much so that they generate on average 10% more revenue over a five-year period.🤯
The math is simple: You + female-founded startups = 💰. Click our link in bio to explore women founded campaigns. Invest in women! //📸: @mawizaa

Hello, and welcome to another episode of “I don’t know what to do with my hands.” Seriously, how do these bloggers and influencers do this whole showing their face thing everyday? I’m trying to get better at it so people realize Toby isn’t making all the candles (he only makes about 45%), but it definitely is not my favorite thing. Maybe it will get easier. Like flossing. Wait, does that really get easier? There’s still blood, but less blood...so I guess we count it as a win? .
What’s something you’ve been doing lately that’s not your favorite, but it actually HAS gotten easier? Drinking green juice? Keeping your desk clean? Meditating? Less screen time? Leaving your house? (Kidding. Sort of.) And if that “not so favorite” thing hasn’t gotten easier but you do it anyway, how do you psych yourself up to do it? Let’s share some tips & tricks. 👇🏼

Ryen and I are down at the printing press packaging and shipping preorders of the Live Rich Planner all day today.
I love being down here. I love being involved in every area of my business. So much of my heart and soul was poured into making the Live Rich Planner. It took over a year to perfect the layout and design, and seeing it come to life has been a blessing and amazing journey.
Tomorrow I will be featuring what my monthly calendar looks like for August. Warning - it's a crazy mess!

Why do Monday morning always come around so quickly! 🙈⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s morning like these I wish I drank coffee and not tea! ☕️ especially when I decided to stay up late working last night. However, I do now almost have my new blog post ready to publish. It’s a goodie! 😉 and very informative, all about logos, the different file formats, including jpgs, pngs, gifs and what on earth a vector file is!!! And how to use them. This is one of my most asked questions when handing over logo files to my clients so I have created a very lovely infographic that you can download and keep handy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I will try to finish it off and publish tonight as I have two Instagram training sessions this week as well has packaging up and handing over a new brand identity for my latest lovely client. This one has been two sub brands for a nursery owner who has branched out into after school care and recruitment too. Can’t wait to share these brands with you as they are a bit of a departure from my usual style and have some lovely colour palettes to compliment the businesses too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, as usual it’s lovely to pour out my random thoughts on you but I need to get sorted for my day job! The realities of life and getting a new business off the ground means I’ve not yet given up my current role. So, if any of you have been thinking of rebranding for a while now and love my creative style, why not get in touch for a no obligation chat? I promise I’m friendly, approachable and really can help you turn your business into a brand 🥰
Consensus at the KGMG headquarters is that the most fun and rewarding work is hands on training and education within the local community 🤝
We have teamed up with @fox_in_the_chamber and @woodendnh to create Hospitality 101, a course aimed at giving teens a leg up in this competitive industry 🍴☕
Over 3 x 2 hour sessions we cover the basics of customer service, teamwork, hands on kitchen and bar skills, as well as share insights into what a prospective employer is looking for in a staff member 📋
After the first intake we were blown away by the enthusiasm and grit of these young people, we can't wait for the next round!
If you or someone you know would like to get involved, there are still spots available for the upcoming term 4 course, get in touch with @woodendnh to book a spot 🌟

Last week I did something out of the ordinary. I was so inspired by some conversations happening in a Facebook group I belong to, I recorded a video to share my perspective on it and posted it. Messy hair, no makeup, wearing a hoodie (it’s winter here in Australia) – all the things that make you come across as a legitimate source of expertise.
But it resonated, so I thought it was worth sharing.
For context, what had inspired me was a couple of posts by other members pushing back against what were considered to be industry trends in the small business space. Brittany Hammond posted about rejecting the format of launch funnels, choosing to write intuitively from a more soulful space. Julie Kirk was in arms against social media calendars and posting strategies.
It got me thinking about the role polarity plays in life.
Polarity shows us the options that are available to us through the use of extremes. It plays an important role in life as it helps us uncover where our preferences lie.
So how does this play out?
Think about production. The extremes might be mass-produced vs handmade. Cheap vs expensive. Kmart is having a moment here in Australia selling in-fashion, mass-produced, low-priced homewares. Whilst there is popularity in this space, there is also a polarity playing out. For every person who buys a cheap, mass-produced product, there are others purchasing one-of-a-kind, high-quality, handmade products. On one side of the spectrum, you have Kmart. On the other side, you might have a provider like Etsy.
Both are fulfilling the same basic customer need, but in different ways based on individual customer preferences.
Technology is another great example. For every innovation we have that embraces the kind of technology that connects our cars to our home (these days, the telematics in our cars can inform our home systems when we’re five minutes away so the lights are turned on, and the heating set); there is also a demand for wi-fi disruptors. One extreme connects us, the other prevents that connection.
So what does it look like in small business? | continued in comments... |
