#SUMMITSTRONGvids#LEGEXTENSIONS These are a great exercise to perform unilaterally or one side at a time. This will prevent the dominant leg from doing more work and will result in more balanced, symmetrical and functional muscle. The key to these is CONSTANT TENSION. They are all about stretching and expanding the muscle then driving as much blood as possible into the tissue and keeping it there until failure. Drive up and squeeze all four muscles in the thigh and pause briefly at peak. Slowly let down and resist gravity so the tension is constant. Repeat from 10 reps til failure then switch legs and repeat. These are unreal fro developing separation in the quads as well as pre-exhausting the muscles for heavier compound lifts like squats. 4 sets per side. Some of you have seen my transformation, most of you have not. To the left was me around 2010, I ran XC and track for Bergen Community College. I obviously never lifted while I was there lol. After graduating from BCC in 2011, I was supposed to run just track at Rowan University, but I screwed up academically and was back living in my hometown. Feeling depressed, I didn't do anything athletic wise from 2013-2014. However on January, 2015 I decided to step outside my comfort zone by joining @retroramsey and started lifting a foreign object called a barbell.
It's humbling to see how far I've come and its more surreal to think that I'll be competing in my first powerlifting meet this Sunday 9/18. I got a lot of people to thank, but special shouts to my boy @eshaw_hollywood. Thank you for suggesting that I should compete in a powerlifting meet. Can't wait where this takes me in the fitness industry.

I know I just posted this on my story but a lot of you (not kidding this time) have really loved hearing this small rant from @underthebar and honestly I wish I could have this play as my alarm clock every morning. I’ve had this mentality for years and today I came across it as I was watching more of Dave’s videos while making breakfast before squats this morning and I really think more people need to hear this. Every meet I go to I go in with the mentality of coming out with a bigger total than I went in with. I could get dead last place at every meet I do but as long as I PRd my total I’m the happiest guy in the room. If that total is good enough to beat others then so be it. Not my concern. Who cares about winning (non money) meets? What’s the point of getting first place if your total didn’t get bigger? There is none. Stay focused on adding pounds to your total and at some point down the line you’ll win every meet you go to or be the best in the world but it all starts with not letting someone else’s life or training or total affect how you view yourself and your life and your training and YOUR TOTAL! Send this rant to someone who needs to get their head out of their ass and trust me there’s a lot of you out there. Myself included some days. It’s hard to be mad when you PR your total but it is kind of annoying when it’s not the PR you wanted. What a problem to have 😂 well long story short I went 6/9 hitting 474/281/551 only getting my deadlift opener. Squats I cut my third high with 490lbs and got the proper red lights it deserved BUT 474lbs is still a 6lb Meet PR AND it’s the same weight I dumped over my head a few weeks ago so HA. Bench went better than expected going 3/3 and hitting an 11lb PR in this division. Deadlifts were surprisingly the worst part of my day. Opened at 551lbs because I honestly thought the 4x bodyweight pull would be there but alas it wasn’t. Tomorrow I’ll go into more detail about the meet and possibly do an longer Instagram TV video (I think they are called) explaining the day. Overall I PRd my total by 22lbs even with only 1 deadlift Omegalul. First 1300lb total and that puts me 12th in the world for wrapped tested 148s. Not a horrible day but not the day I wanted.
