Hm. The Hamilton County Sheriff Twitter claims that they didn't take the American Flag down but rather it was stolen. Even if that's true, replacing it with the Blue-Lives flag is still revoltingly tone-deaf on their part, but it sounds like it was taken back down.

The City of New York Health and Hospitals Corporation (Advertised as NYC Health + Hospitals or HHC) is the largest public health care system in the United States. The HHC provides essential inpatient, outpatient, and home-based services to more than one million New Yorkers every year in more than 70 locations across the City’s five boroughs. Officers of the NYC Health + Hospitals Police Department (NYHP or HHCPD) promote safety and security within NYC Health + Hospital facilities. All officers are required to attend annual in-service training to ensure compliance with the New York State’s Division of Criminal Justice Services. They gain New York State Peace Officer powers under New York State Criminal Procedure Law § 2.10 following 10 weeks of training spent at the NYC Hospital Police Academy, where officers receive training in basic New York State Criminal Procedural Law, penal law, procedural justice, powers of a peace officer, justification/use of force, radio use, arrest procedures, preventing and managing crisis situations, and first aid/CPR. NYHP Officers are designated as NYC Special Officers, a civil service title giving them all powers of New York State Peace Officers employed by the City of New York.

It’s been difficult to find words lately but I want to continue to be my authentic self for all of you. If you’ve been a part of this community for a while, you know that I struggle with humankind and how we treat each other, on a regular basis.
My experiences involving treating patients in the Emergency Department however, have made me feel blessed, as I am able to witness and promote a sense of equality. Nothing matters when we as physicians are treating humans who are sick. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what you do in life, the color of your skin, or the amount of money you have; we all have human bodies that experience illness and disease.
I know the equal treatment that I see in my ED is not the case in many other aspects of life and in medicine even, for some of you reading this, and that sucks. I will never know what that feels like, personally. My heart goes out to #GeorgeFloyd and his family. It is beyond difficult to watch what happened to him, as a physician whose job is to save lives.
Today I’m choosing to share this video of Chris Swanson joining a peaceful protest from my home state #Michigan, that filled my heart with joy and happiness and gave me HOPE for change.
I KNOW we have the power to make change and I’m proud to share and send any type of light that I can, in such a dark time.
*this video was reposted several times, I am unsure of the original owner but THANK YOU for capturing this
I don’t have the answers. And I don’t think anyone really does. But I can tell you that a way to help stop the violence is for police to march with protestors and agree there is a problem across our entire country. What this sheriff did is incredible and kept everyone safe. Holding guns in protestors faces, passing out tear gas canisters, and refusing to communicate with people right in front of you does nothing but raise tensions, escalate issues, and create a visible divide. Threatening the lives of peaceful protestors does nothing but drive them away when they will help keep the peace. Separation and suppression will never be the solution.
1. Sherriffs only. All answerable to periodic re-election based on performance and adherence to the state constitution.
2. Small jurisdictions so people know their sheriff.
3. SWAT controlled & activated by governor order only.
4. End no-knock warrants.
Why can’t all police just march with us like that Michigan sheriff did

I cannot image the responsibility of being a Sheriff; a person who polices multiple communities, sets the tone of law enforcement, leads diverse teams, and must navigate countless political traps on top of putting him or herself in countless dangerous situations. In my estimation, based on what I know, this gentleman is a proper Sheriff.
To properly police or govern, you must have trust. We the people give our leaders the platform to lead. We trust them to lead and Sheriff Swanson understands that. He's not breaking that trust, he's engaging that trust to show that not only is he a leader of the community, but also part of the community. A trust earned is a trust warranted and that trust empowers a leader. Thank you, @chris_swanson262 for displaying what real leadership looks to my home state, our country, and the world over. Keep pedaling, brother. 🚲 #sheriffswanson#michigander#leadership#blacklivesmatter#letsbebettertogether#forwardtogether#sheriff#protesting

This is what the flag means... and shouldn’t be disrespected!

Be safe and be diligent. ❤️💛💙💚 TO OUR OFFICERS: We are here for YOU! We support YOU! If there is anything you need or that we can do, let us know!!! Let us serve you while you protect us. Need a car wash? Need TP? Need food? Want us to walk your dog? We got you!! Rest between shifts this week and let us help you. ⏰ What is Curfew? ⏰ During the hours of curfew, all persons are prohibited from using, standing, sitting, traveling or being present on any public street or in any public place, including for the purpose of travel. Exemptions: law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics or other medical personnel, National Guard, as well as any other emergency response personnel authorized by the State of Arizona, and credentialed members of the media.
