It's never easy saying goodbye. Especially to a life that you thought was supposed to be.😔
I've always adored this picture of my husband kissing the feet of our daughter, Mary Alice.👣
We had so much peace and calm in the delivery room that day despite her diagnoses, but it was still gut-wrenching to say goodbye to another one of our babies.
Even though we left the hospital empty-handed again we knew we'd be alright in time.
"We are never promised tomorrow, so we’ve found ourselves wanting to make each day count. It isn’t easy, and we still struggle, but we have found that the joy of the Lord is our strength. We have learned that no matter the circumstances, we can always hold to His promises . . . and choose joy."-
“What being on social media feels like:
Vulnerability is a weird thing for me. Sometimes I feel as if I share too much, and too little all at once. Like I’m naked in the shadows, forever toeing the line of raw + curated. It often feels like I’m exposing myself to criticism, judgement, and negativity; however, at times it’s liberating, and inspiring that I’m able to use this space as an outlet for change through my own experiences.
I wanna stress that for many of us, who live our lives for others to see, it’s not really the easiest thing to do. When we put in effort to be raw, it’s not to say “woe is me, my life is hard.” When I opened up to you guys about my past struggle with addiction, self consciousness, familial unrest, etc. it was to outstretch my soul to connect with yours. Even me saying I was a witch/pagan/tarot bitch at some point felt too “crazy” for social media. Nevertheless, I am here to educate, help, and heal. Ain’t nobody gonna listen to me telling you how to change your life, if there’s no proof I’ve tried to save mine. You’ve seen me evolve with my page, my content, and my business. You’ve seen personal relationships play out on my timeline. Things most people keep private, I bring to the public to say “YO ME TOO”.
So, it’s one thing to take a photo with a product and push it on people. It’s one thing to be a product yourself-especially on social media. It’s another thing to be a person.
I invite everyone to show us all who you really are. Post about your experiences. Put out ARTSY CONTENT even when you think it’s too out there. It’s part of you. Post what you do and who you are. It’s important. This is a SOCIAL NETWORK, so let’s bring something to our societal network that benefits us all. What’s made you YOU?” — @thehalfasswitch

It is September & Deaf Awareness Month. Mattea has a message for you all. Every story needs to be seen, heard & felt. Deaf & hard of hearing people & children- all of you, please share your stories.
Hi. I'm Mattea King (sign name). #whyIsign went viral. Many of the videos tug on our emotions. Some we empathize with. We as a community have learned from the stories. It has been awesome. I have noticed that most of the videos are from hearing people, which of course is wonderful, but why don’t we see more deaf adults & children share their stories too? The stories are important because hearing families can learn from deaf/hard of hearing adults’ experiences as well as how they thrived with language (signing). Families learn that if deaf adults can do it, then their deaf/hh child can do it too. Deaf children can see other deaf kids, and think, “We are just alike”. If they have communication access, then I should too. Now, go ahead and share your story if you haven’t. #whyIsign ILY ILY! #askmewhyisign#shareyourstory#signlanguageweek
"Sharing this unfiltered image of me ✨giving my all✨ for #nationalbreastfeedingmonth My hubby snapped this pic as I fell asleep sitting up, breastfeeding our 2 week old twins. Exhausted doesn’t fully describe this experience as I was healing from 2 types of births (Baby A vaginal, Baby B cesarean) and my body is working non-freaking-stop to make all the milk for these boys.
This is the least flattering/aesthetically pleasing image I could share of me bfing my twins but, man, it makes me proud as I look back at how hard my body was working. Sneaking in a nap while the boys ate because, holy crap, I could have fallen asleep anywhere during that first year of their lives.
Our bfing journey lasted 28 months. I amazed myself. Each day/week/month/year that ticked away was mind boggling to me. We were figuring this thing out. Together. It was not easy and required so much sacrifice, but I was 1,000% committed to this part of my journey and thankfully we made progress together.
I enjoyed so many beautiful moments with my boys nursing side-by-side. The first time twins hold hands while bfing is heart-bursting 💗 Those moments of connection, warm snuggles, love given and received got me through.
Any twin mamas out there bfing? Give me a 💜💜 If you need a little encouragement, share a message below. I love cheering others on along this journey and remind you of just how amazing you are!" - @amy_exercisingbalance
🌷COMMUNITY🌷 I had a great time speaking about building trust in communities at the @cmxconnect event this month. We talked about expectations, vulnerability, creating a safe space and lots more! I’m so grateful to be a part of the @adultballetcommunity and love sharing everything I’ve learned so far on my journey. I’m really enjoying speaking in public too. Not something I had really thought much about but, to me, it seems like a natural progression from teaching. Very lucky to have been invited to speak at such inspiring events in 2019! Here with Alana from @urbancampus_ 💚 Thanks to @valentina_ruffoni and @cepeetabibian for organising and running such an awesome event! #madrid#publicspeaker#cmx#buildingcommunities#shareyourstory

When I was a kid, one of my most favorite things was having “sleepovers” with my sister. This was a special occasion, of course, as our mom was careful we always got enough rest.
If the sleepover took place in Alison’s room, I felt so cool, like a real grownup! After all, she was older and most definitely wiser than me. If it took place in my room, I felt special - we’d put my “My Little Pony” tent on top of my bed, and suddenly our night turned into magic; My imagination knew no bounds.
I’ve always looked up to my big sister, who I consider one of my best friends. We’ve taken vastly different paths in our lives - myself as a creative “rebel” of sorts, hers a more “traditional” journey.
Now Alison is stepping out into the unknown as she launches her own business, AHM Consulting LLC, where she will work intimately and holistically with students and their parents to provide them guidance & coaching through the college and graduate school admissions process.
Not too long ago, Alison faced some real fears in letting go of a job she knew intimately. Now she’s putting herself out there on her own!
As I grow my own business, I will continue to look to Alison for guidance & inspiration - maybe I’ll “grow up” to be just like her. I hope she’ll continue to find “magic” through me. .

It has been a ROUGH 3 weeks to say the least. I started my first job as a Pediatric Physical Therapist — a dream I’ve had for quite awhile now. Instead of feeling proud & successful, I’ve been overwhelmed with doubt & insecurity. My anxiety has spiked & fueled the fire to depressive thoughts... so how do we stop this cycle?!?!
. 🌀Journaling — When I find my thoughts racing, I write it out. More often than not, my thoughts are “distorted”. The act of writing allows me to find a sense of relief & clarity. It is so important to reshape your thinking & become more in touch with reality — Our mind has its own way of thinking & those thoughts aren’t always the TRUTH.
. 🌀Physical Activity — I have not been to the gym since I started my new job & I know it has affected both my MIND & BODY. I know hard it can be to move when you feel so low. But I promise you will feel better once you do!! Even if it’s just a walk, get your heart rate up & body moving.
. 🌀Vitamin D — A mood stabilizer and important for bone & gut health. Unfortunately, vit D is in few foods and sunshine may be the primary source — WINTER IS COMING. I take a supplement everyday & try to get in the sun whenever possible. So get outside, soak up some rays & enjoy the last weekend of summer!! (Pls wear sunscreen)
. 🌀Lean on Others — It’s OK to ask for help! Easier said then done right? I hate involving people in my emotions & thoughts. I was always so scared to talk about my depression & anxiety. But once I opened up, I realized how much others want to help & just be there for me. So remember you are NEVER ALONE. Isolating yourself is always going to make you feel worse. So thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has recognized my current struggles & helped me push through the tough times 💙
So tell me, how do you fight the cycle?
“Beauty grows, and you are beautiful in every life stage. Beautiful at 13 when your body is changing; beautiful at 43, trying to cover up wrinkles and gray; and beautiful at 83, full of wisdom and experience. Don’t let anything or anyone define the beauty that is on you and in you!” — @dorenawilliamson 💕✨
Some thoughts on MY PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT HIATUS!
AKA: Learning how to just be, receive and embrace a new chapter.
A few months before my 30th birthday I became obsessed with the question: What is the best way to create long-lasting habit change and become the best version of myself?
A journalist at my core and a willing guinea pig, I dove into every personal development program, book, and modality I could find.
I do not claim to be a personal development expert and there are still many more gurus and modalities I have yet to try.
I've been working on a book about my deep-dive into the billion-dollar industry of personal development and convinced myself there were just three things left on my bucket list before I could finish.
And then something strange happened: I woke up one day and things weren't perfect but they had somehow fallen into place.
I'm doing all the things I dreamed about doing when I started this journey 5 years ago (traveling, running my own business from anywhere, feeling happy + healthy). I have an incredible group of friends around the world. I love my body and the way I look. My business is finally working after what felt like a long journey in the wilderness. Miracles happen in my life every day. I feel incredibly supported and hopeful instead of being consumed with feelings of dread and fear over what could go wrong.
So I was caught off guard and honestly uncomfortable when the download came recently to just be. To stop using personal development as a distraction or a way to get to the "next place." There's still work to be done and I know new challenges await. But for now the lesson is to be, receive and stay present. And this my friends, might be the most important work there is. 📸 @wavewyld
