"Now that I rest here in the dark, I see clearly what I really am," Jouse wrote in his last letter. "Despite my disability. Despite my useless legs. I have dedicated my life to searching for answers. But the world, far from rewarding me for my human curiosity, punished me."
The wolf pendant with shining eyes swayed from one side to the other. The hairy, muscular legs passed from tree to tree. The beast moved like an agile shadow in the middle of the night.
"Dear, if there's one thing I regret, it's that I never told you the truth. And the truth is, during my expedition into those Celtic ruins, I found more than paintings and vessels."
The eyes of the wolf amulet became red. The beast jumped to the ground and fell on a deer, which it devoured savagely.
"I found something that allowed me to violate my human weaknesses. Something that transformed my legs, from two pieces of useless meat, into two muscular limbs with which I could jump between the roofs. Free at last. Free for the first time of my ties."
The beast ran on all fours through the forest.
"I found something that gave me everything I had lost, but in return forced me to do horrible things. It took me to the extreme of my condition, tearing away my human kindness. It made me terrify Paris, our beautiful Paris, for years without rest."
The beast came to the edge of a cliff, from which it evoked its strongest and most heartbreaking howl, born straight from the heart.
"But I can no longer drag this double life. I have brought too much evil into this world."
The howl was not ended by a beast, but by a being with squalid arms and legs that did not respond.
"Now I see what I really am, my dear."
His hair was long and tangled. His eyes were sad and longed for the abyss in front of him. The wolf pendant rested in his hand, extinguished.
"And I can't live with it."

I’m heading back out to the forest this morning where I caught that odd evp, because you should always go back if you can and see if you can debunk or better yet, catch it again. So big girls panties are on and off I go. Who knows? Maybe I’ll run into this guy while I’m out there...
