HAPPY GLOBAL RUNNING DAY 🌏 🏃🏼♀️ 🏃🏻♂️ ❤️
Running you have brought so much happiness & wonderful people & precious friends into my life, I will be forever grateful 🙏🏻🥰💫
I came to running quite late in life compared to most at the age of 47, but hay ho 4 children & a business to run what can I say, I spent my free time sleeping 🤪. When my youngest went to school in 2014, I found a little extra energy & a 6am window before the tribe woke to start an app called C25k & what a journey it has been!!!! .
I would never ever of believed that I would go from really struggling to run for a minute to go onto run a 5k, 10k, half marathons, win trophies in my club for my AC, join the ASICS FrontRunner family in 2018 😍🙏🏻, run my first marathon @londonmarathon ‘18, a 50k & then 100k at #racetothestones@thresholdsports last year & the cherry on the top completing my LiRF, so I can pay it forward 💖
I have had a belly full of giggles with my sis on the adventures we’ve been on together so far. I’ve missed running with my sis so much these last few months! Before Covid-19 our plan was for me to run Chicago Marathon this year & go back to RTTS in 2021 to celebrate @that.running.nurse 50th 🥳. Now more than anything after the first half of this year I can’t wait for my sis to have some free time to get back running & have the BEST party EVER on the Ridgeway next summer 🎉🎉🙌🏻.
THANK YOU to every single awesome person in this wonderful running community, I’m so proud to part of this incredible community!!! Thank you for ALWAYS cheering me on through my journey, all the support, advice, encouragement & giggles you all give me daily from all over the world & to my amazing coach @pmgcoaching & physio @quinnphysio, I am truly blessed, loves ya 😘😘😘 Happy #globalrunningday .
Happy #globalrunningday, everyone! Today my favorite running brand @oiselle is contributing EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR spent on purchases to the @thelovelandfoundation, a non-profit founded by @rachel.cargle that provides support and resources for black women and girls, and in particular access to mental health resources. I’ve long been proud to represent an amazing woman led brand like @oiselle, and love the way they are constantly looking to support women in sport and all aspects of life. Mental health is an area I feel considerably passionate about as well.
In learning to navigate my own murky waters of depression and anxiety, I’ve found that access to resources like therapy are crucial to my wellness, and honestly my life. I’ve struggled on the brink of suicide several times throughout my adult life and I believe without the intervention of therapy, I might not be here today. My insurance covers just a fraction of the cost for my weekly sessions and the monthly bill is a difficult financial burden. But it’s a burden that I have the PRIVILEGE to afford and a lot of that privilege comes from the color of my skin. There are many women and girls in the Black community who are unable to get the help they need because of systemic racial injustices in our country that limit their access to these resources. There is much work to be done, but this is a good starting point. If you are looking to make a purchase today from @oiselle and need some pointers on awesome gear, might I suggest the the awesome new air flow crop top or the pocket jogger shorts (a long term favorite). 🖤

Everyone has been taking advantage of some more running since lockdown and good on you! However spending hours behind a desk or watching Netflix on the sofa unfortunately has its down sides, especially on your muscles! This is a pre-run foam roller routine I’ve been doing to loosen up before a run! 🏃🏽♀️ Calves, they take a lot of impact when you’re running - upwards of 8x your body weight, make sure they’re ready! (Video 1&2)
🏃♂️ hamstrings- these are going to be a driving force in your run, typically tight after time spent in a seated position so make sure they’re prime before the run! 🏃🏽♀️ Quads - again going to be acting as a driving force, especially your hip flexor too which is found at the top of your quads up and under the lower abs! Roll it out to reduce any discomfort in your run! 🏃♂️ Upper back - spending time working on your laptop at home is going to effect your posture, particularly your thoracic spine! Make sure you’ve spent some time loosening this off to avoid tension through the shoulders when you’re running!
🤓 tag a friend who loves a quarantine run!
There’s still plenty more epic days out to be had this year 👊🏽🏃🏽♂️⛰
Got in a morning 5k with the babe before the other 3 woke up. That stroller got me like 🔥🔥 on the hills, but we made it. She had a blast waving at all the morning drivers around town and having a snack none of her siblings were making her share. While I have enjoyed the slow moving mornings since March but it was nice to get a jump start to the day! Maybe, just maybe we’ll do this early run thing during these hot months. I think I’m gonna have to get a good cold brew coffee maker so I have a reward to come back home to ☕️ #runningismytherapy#runningcommunity#runnersofinstagram#runnwi#runningwithababy#run#slowbutsteady@runwidowrun
Anxiety is taking over my life... that’s why I run!

My feed has been black this week, and I appreciate everyone who's supporting Black lives. I'd like to add some color w/ this purple, bc as a Black woman, I don't want to have to shrink myself or blend in for approval.
If you're not a POC you may not know what we deal with. Doctors, scientists, musicians-or JOURNALISTS, we're followed through stores, accused of stealing our own cars, and followed through our own neighborhoods. So any of us can "fit a profile."
Lately I've been speaking a lot for Black people, but even if someone doesn't have my light skin, my education, or my demeanor, doesn't mean they shouldn't be heard. So POC, please share an experience that you've had that hurt you or made you feel unsafe 👇🏼
5.5 mi in 45:58 (8:21 pace). Nice recovery run today! Nothing too drastic because I am getting used to waking up early and running (currently making it work and I am hoping I can stick to it). So I tried wearing Nike pros on my run and literally a minute in, they rode up all the way my thighs 🤦♀️ I understand that I have thicc thighs, and they’re something I’m working on, but WTH. If any of you understand and have any short recommendations/ways to prevent chafing, let me know. It will literally save my life because even though I’m running earlier in the day, it was 70 degrees and I can imagine it’s only going to get hotter!! Also, if you have any tips on how to be better at going to sleep/waking up early I would appreciate help in that department also. Aside from my mini rant, NYC looks so pretty in the morning 😍
