Derrick Frazier's wife said he was cheating on her, and so she decided to make him jealous by making up an affair of her own. But she didn't count on the innocent man ending up dead.
At about 6 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016, police responded to a call of shots fired in Bradenton, Florida.
Officers arrived to find Dequan Randolph, 30, (pictured) deceased, from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Eyewitnesses, including Frazier’s wife, at the scene were able to provide detectives details about what happened, enabling them to immediately identify Frazier as the suspect.
Frazier’s wife stated that she and Derrick Frazier, 32, had been been married since August and that he was seeing another female and she was trying to make him jealous so she made up a relationship with Dequan.
Frazier’s wife was outside a home along with other eyewitness talking to Dequan when Frazier pulled up in a pickup truck.
The witnesses said no words were exchanged, Frazier got out the truck, put the gun up to Dequan and shot him in the center of his chest, then walked away, got in the pickup truck and drove off.
Dequan worked as a paver operator for an asphalt company. His family said he was a hard-working man.
Dequan's mother said her son, the eldest of six, was very outgoing. "There was nothing he wouldn’t do for anyone,” she sobbed. "He would take the shirt off his back.”
Dequan's wife echoed her mother-in-law’s thoughts, saying that Dequan would not hesitate to get out of bed and go help someone whose car had broken down, no matter what time it was.
Both women say he was a family man with five children and a stepchild that he raised as his own.
Frazier has been charged with second-degree murder. He has a lengthy criminal history of arrests for domestic violence and drug charges.
This is such a tragedy for the Randolph family. An innocent man lost his life over lies. Our deepest sympathies are with his wife, mother, siblings and children. Rest easy Quan...

The brotherhood lost an awesome warrior and brother in Dequan. I was personally blessed by Dequan's joyous spirit. Thankful for the short time you had with us. Asking for prayers for Dequan's family during this time. "for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4"
