Guuuurrrl, I remember when I bought my first snake plant 🐍🌿 (aka Ms. Sansevieria Trifasciata). It was summertime and this kween was exploring Chinatown, because she was a Brooklyn-based plant parent newbie and eager to see what the botanical scene was like on the other side of the river! 🌿🤗🌵🍃🌱 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As I was walking by a random bodega, I saw the stiff, upright, sword-like leaves and was intrigued for👏🏾tha👏🏾gawds! I ended up welcoming two of those green gurls into the plant fam that day! Fast forward 3 years later, those kweens are still thriving and have been joined by 17 more snake plant sistas of various varieties! 💃🏽🐍🌿
The snake plant is my favorite green gurls for so many reasons! Not only is this kween one of the most resilient + adaptable + easy to care for green gurls around, hunty, she also cleans the air better than most other indoor plants! This kween absorbs excessive amounts of carbon monoxide, emits oxygen, and filters other toxins released into the air from common household products, hunty! With 19 of these kweens in my apartment, she got that good air quality! 🌿🌿🌿🤗
Dahling, there is no reason not to be obsessed with her! This low maintenance kween can tolerate low light (but can thrive in medium/bright ambient light), and can be watered about once a week during summer months and about once every three/four weeks during cooler months. It can also depend on the conditions of you home. Best rule of thumb is to let the soil dry out completely before watering again. She’s built to withstand droughts in her natural habitat, so I try to keep that I mind when caring for this kween! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Long story short, dahling, I am obsessed with this kween and this is the reason that Ms. Sansevieria Trifasciata was the baby plant I decided to gift to my 8 year old niece. It’s her first plant, and she’s starting out with an iconic green gurl 💚
five years ago this day the course of my life shifted. i didn’t know it then, but looking back it’s a moment i’ll cherish 4ever. it was my 2nd day in melb 🇦🇺 & i was checking out a share house in fitzroy. it was a converted warehouse & the best part - it was a jungle inside 🌵🌴🌱🌿 there were six extra large yucca trees, a couple ficus trees, a ponytail palm & lots of pothos hanging off stairwells + succulents on the terrace. it felt like home the second i stepped in & i knew i had to live there.
& then i met my flatmate, chris. yes, the chris who is my life partner & best friend. from the get go he was so down to earth & genuine. at that point i was on a relationship anarchy tip (nordgren, 2006) & had decided that i wouldn’t be in a monogamous relationship again. the first weekend i lived there, chris screened a film on the rooftop & we sat until the early hours talking. over time i started feeling ways that challenged my perspectives & my plans faded to the background.
fast forward to today, here we are living in our jungle in tkaronto. tbh, when we moved here it wasn’t because we wanted to. my visa had expired & c had no plans of leaving 🇦🇺 it’s been tough since day 1, but we’ve made it work & continue to make it work. my heart is full thinking about how lucky i am to be next to chris on this journey. he brings light to those around him & our love of nature + life bonds us. c, if you’re reading this i love you & i always will. i’m happy we took a chance & i’m grateful for doing life with you 😍🥰💑

✰ Arteza Review ✰
@artezaofficial was kind enough to send me some of their products to try out. I have played around with their watercolors and their gouache for some time and finally have a solid opinion on them. GOUACHE: I used their gouache colors to paint these Kraft sketchbooks and I thoroughly enjoyed the process! The paints are super pigmented and creamy. And they can also be watered down to give a watercolor-like finish. Their 60 gouache color set offer so many different colors and although I didn’t use all of them, the colors I did use were are super vibrant and not as chalky as I was expecting. Usually, non-artist grade gouache leaves a super chalky finish after drying, but I didn’t experience that with the colors I used. The different paints also mix with each other quite well.
Overall, I definitely will recommend this set! Especially for beginners who may not be great at mixing colors themselves and want a set that has a great color selection. For the price, I would say the quality of these paints surprised me. I will be using the gouaches more in the future! ♡

WATERCOLORS: The watercolors unfortunately were not my favorite. I am used to using high quality, artist-grade watercolors. Therefore, I am quite picky when it comes to them. Watercolor is also very unforgiving, and any discrepancy in texture or quality can easily be seen. From my own experiences, arteza’s watercolors do not have that flow and bleed that I look for in my watercolors. They also tend to dry down chalky, leaving a white cast over the colors and losing their vibrancy. In all honesty, I have used other cheaper watercolors that offer more color payoff and texture than these ones.
Again, these are from my own experiences. ⚡️
(Disclaimer: I was sent these products from Arteza to review. Although I did not pay for them, these are 100% my own honest opinions.) ☁️

Ahhhhhhh, finally showered after months! The plant, not me! 😆
Fijne avond lieve mensen🍀

I’ve met so many amazing and inspirational people on here. It makes me so proud to know we are part of a community that is nurturing, talented and loving and that creates an environment where all this knowledge and beauty is shared. Honestly, sometimes it seems so crazy to me that you guys exist outside of this tiny screen on my phone, but of course you do and I had the crazy opportunity to send someone a little sculpture that I’ve made, as a thank you for being a ray of sunshine always. Now that @donkeystail.ny finally received it, I can show you this little plant spirit. It travelled all the way to the US, which is just insane to me. Someone across a very big pond owns something that I made now. May your little succulent spirit watch over you and your little green guys. Stay awesome 💚
