This month for #TALKTHETALK@jarednkaplan is getting us talking about Time Management and Schedules! This is something I by no means have down, but two things that have made a difference to my schedule is:
1. Teaching a maximum of 7 hours a day. When I was studio employee we could be scheduled up to 12 hours a day 😱 and the burnt out was real (that’s for another post!), but since becoming a studio owner with a high volume of admin, 7 hours is the maximum teaching hours I can manage and keep on top of the running of the business and still have two days off a week 😃 I think I’m a much better teacher, friend, and wife when I cap my hours and have days off! •
2. I don’t do home visits. Living on a small island means that home visits are often requested, and expected, but even with charging extra travel fees they aren’t worth it for me. The traffic can be stressful, and the time away from the studio means saying ‘no’ to other clients, and eats into my 7 hours per day contact time.

We are excited to announce the launch of our digital studio with a FREE Pilates Mat class you can attend from the comfort of your own home, today, Wednesday at 5:30pm. @kelseywieds will be teaching a 30 minute Pilates Mat Flow with some active stretching thrown into the mix.

All you need is a mat or comfortable blanket/towel to lay on and enough cleared space to perform the exercises.

You can do this exercise using an elastic band or even an old tides to hold the back leg still.

Since I can’t take my beloved weekly class in person with @cprpilates, I now do it with her online. What are YOU doing to maintain a routine you love?💕
This week has probably been the toughest yet so far for me. Deep breath. 🧘🏻♀️ But I’m trying to stick to a few things that are just for me in order to keep a sense of order, from my morning movement routine to this class each week to getting in touch with friends to a daily walk (which didn’t happen the last few days.)

To build strength from the ground up, the first place to start with are toes, feet and ankles.
Feet are the most important factor when it comes to optimizing movement biomechanic, quality and muscle function.
25% of our muscles are in our feet.
Dysfunction in our feet may lead to several issues like knee and lower back pain.
Feet strength directly affects ankle stabilization and balance of the entire body.
Walking barefoot and collecting pens or small towels with your toes from the floor are exercises everybody should do, especially if you are runners or athletes in general.
👀 It’s indeed been proven that intrinsic feet strength directly influences power output!
