Whatever life you are envisioning for yourself... it's possible. I don't say that to be ra ra inspirational, I say it because it's the freaking truth. The ideal version of you, yep that one where you have the successful business, you workout regularly and make time for self-care, all of that is only a decision away. No one is asking you to do anything out of the realm of possibly for humans, all you need to do is take action (usually pretty straight forward action too).
Yes, okay I get it. It's so much easier to live life on autopilot, not ever making any real change... but is it easier? Is it easier constantly living in a state of 'I wish things were different'. Things can be different, you can be as awesome as the person who you visualise... just figure out what you need to do, and do it. It will be harder in the beginning, you may even need to deploy some serious self-discipline, but then almost like magic, that action will just become a part of who you are, change happens when you decide you're worth it... so make hat decision... like ASAP.

Are we always ALREADY listening?
Many of us might think we listen when someone else is talking to us, where in fact we are PRETENDING to be listening as our mind chatter takes over our presence.
An effective exercise that I have considered taking on board just recently to practice my listening skill is:
As I listen to someone, I also look for the voices in my head that constantly come on the way to interrupt me from having full presence for the person speaking. And as I spot for some of these distracting thoughts, I shut them down to regain full attention to the other person, and let me tell you that this is actually harder than what it sounds.
Personal Experience: This exercise revealed to me how much I actually DON’T listen because my inner mind chatter driven by judgements, fears, analysis and opinions filter out the true essence of what the other person is intending to say.
Listening is a crucial skill for building worthwhile connections with people at home, work, in a social environment, shops, streets etc…
Imagine you are sharing with someone, a goal you just have achieved with full excitement and they aren’t fully present with you. How would you feel?
Putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes could give us a taste of how it feels.
Patience and practice are keys to mastering our listening skill!

“I wish I would have known about what I’m learning now years ago.”
Have you ever said this yourself, or hear someone else say it?
What seems like an innocent comments like these, could actually be something that is holding
you back in your life.
Our words matter, and have power. What we repeatedly say and think gets recorded in our
subconscious minds - and this part of our mind that drives 95% of our behavior. Making
comments like the one above can produce feelings of guilt or shame. LIke you did something
wrong, when it fact you didn’t.
Honor your journey and be grateful for what you are learning now. So many people stay
ignorant for most of their lives, and if you’re learning great life principles now enjoy it and resist
the temptation to play the “what if game” (“what if I knew about this sooner, what would my life
So much learning comes from being in conversation!
My preference when facilitating small group workshops is to set up chairs in a circle, with no tables. But the first time I attended training as a participant with this set up, I felt very uncomfortable!
I was used to having a table in front of me and I felt very exposed without one. I hadn’t realised that I used the table as defence, as a barrier to hide behind. That first experience with no table felt very vulnerable but I found it helped the group bond and share stories openly.
The circle of chairs arrangement promotes conversation and openness and facilitates great social learning. So much of our learning comes from dialogue, storytelling, and sharing openly with each other.
This is just one of the tips I shared yesterday in a small group workshop supporting a talented HR team with how to design and facilitate learning initiatives. At least one of them felt a bit confronted by the circle of chairs, so I explained the reasoning and encouraged them to experiment with it and notice what happens.
What’s your favourite learning set-up?
