When I asked for crazy medical tales, I got this scenario from the fabulous meme master @humor_me_rn. They get crazier from here. Some of them too crazy or gross or tragic to post I’m afraid... or are they? How crazy should we get on this page? Do you wanna see more crazy stories? Comment below and tag your wackiest friends!

You guys might have noticed, but since I started as an NP, I have been taking more vacations. For 7 years as a bedside nurse my PTO was used almost solely for sick time (yes, I was constantly sick as a bedside nurse but that’s a whole different post). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Since becoming an NP, I vowed to get out of the hospital as much as possible to prevent burnout and live a more balanced life. Sometimes I travel to see family, sometimes I take trips for fun, and sometimes I stay home and hang with my pup, but now, I never waste my vacation time. Overall, I’ve found, the more I’m out of the hospital, the better I am in the hospital. I’m more motivated to work, emotionally available, and ready to absorb and learn. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do you all take vacations/staycations? And most importantly, where are you guys headed next? And have you ever seen a cuter corgi bomb a photo? ☀️🌴⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

the easiest way to recognise a nurse is the 'Nurse Walk'.
Nurses walk on average 10 times faster than the average human. This is not an inherited trait but as a highly adaptable species, nurses learn this technique

What are they? 🏊🏾♀️
•the nursing student performs a skill that they have learned to display their comprehension.
Why do we do them? 🤸🏻
•demonstrations provide a realistic-ish, experience that requires physical and mental memory to perform.
•this provides the student with a less-stressful environment to perform a skill, and eliminates the chance of posing harm to a patient.
Tips for nursing skill demonstrations 🥊
•go to open-lab, and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, until you do not need to reference a cheat sheet
•watch another student perform the skill to see if your missing anything !
•watch YouTube videos of the skill being done
•learn the patho behind what you are doing. You can fake it through a demo all day long based off memory, but if your instructor asks you follow up questions, you should be prepared.
Have any other skills-lab tips?!
