So, my Wife and I were having #PillowTalk, and we began to share how blessed and thankful we are to have each other, and to have the pleasure of experiencing everyday, #365daysayear, what most people only experience on one day of the year (Feb. 14th)!!! #LOVE365 #PILLOWTALK365

I knew I wouldn’t be parading today, so I had to do something to commemorate Lundj Gras! I don’t think Paul Hollywood is giving me a handshake just yet, and I ran out of purple and green sprinkles, but these came out pretty well!
💛💜💚Despite all the terrible accidents this Mardi Gras season (my condolences to the familes)🙏🏾 We truly had a blast! Everything was perfect!! kids didn't want to go @ 1st bc all they mainly know is BR parades (sorry👎🏽) but they didn't want to leave! So many memories...I will always 💜 NOLA its just some of the people who give it a bad name. I pray the rest of the season is great & no more accidents or deaths take place!! 💜💚💛 #mardigras2020#noplacelikehome#nolagirl#nolaculture#familytime
Not sure how curses work, but could these pissed off spirits go after the officials who are to blame?

Last year 2 people were killed at Endymion and 10 years ago two people died after falling off their floats and two others were killed being run over by floats or the tractor pulling them. It’s definitely not like this Mardi Gras is the first with accidents or fatalities
True life: I was addicted to Dr. Pepper!
I've always enjoyed Dr. Pepper over any other soft drink. The rich, dark syrup would hit the spot almost every time I drank a bottle or can. It was my go-to drink for every meal or every occasion growing up. My dad would buy a 2 liter bottle of it every Sunday!
When I moved out of my parents house at 22 and had to start buying groceries on my own, having Dr. Pepper in the fridge was a must. Every trip I took to the store, I'd come home with DP. .
My obsession with drinking it was at an all-time high between 2014-2016. I'd wake up, fix a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and have a DP to go along with it for breakfast. I'd get to school and crack open another can at 8 am. Lunch would roll around and I'd have another at 11:30. My off period was at 2 pm, and yep, you guessed it, I had another. Some days I would go home and have 4th can! OMG!!
It became a joke that I was addicted, but I was starting to feel realllll sluggish, soft, and my skin was horrible! Go figure! I knew I needed a change. For Lent of 2016, I decided to give up DP. How was I going to go a whole season without MY drug?! I told myself I was mentally strong enough to do it and would break my addiction.
Guess what? I DID! It sounds ridiculous but I had withdrawals. I had horrible headaches. I felt like crap quite frankly, but I knew it had to be done. I forged on and found my strength in myself I hadn't felt in a long time. When the season ended, I didn't go back to my old habit. I continued the path of living DP free! .
Still to this day, I don't crave Dr. Pepper like I used to. I'll get it every now and then if I go eat out but I never, ever buy it at the store and bring it home. It really doesn't taste that good to me anymore!
We all struggle with some obsession or addiction, many more severe than DP. The truth is while we all struggle, we can overcome it. It is hard, challenging, uneasy, and downright sucks, but when you tell yourself enough is enough, you can make headway! It also takes surrounding yourself with a support system to help you through.
As we approach Lent, what are you considering giving up or taking action on?
Have you ever felt like damn can I just have 15 more minutes of sleep? Clearly that was not possible for me this morning. So I forced myself to get up and literally said if I have to go to this damn meeting... I might as well look good and give them something to talk about .
