Well it's all down to something called 'rock flour' which is ground down mineral-rich schist rock and sandstone which is so fine that instead of settling to the bottom of the river it remains suspended in the water as it flows down from the southern alps through what some refer to as Hokitika blue gorge 💙💙💙

I’ve been busy the last few weeks going through all my personal work shot over the last 12 months to rebuild my portfolio. Lately I have been in a bad habit of editing one or two hero photos from a trip, posting them and never really getting around to editing the rest. One of the biggest dislikes I have about this platform is it’s so easy to go out and shoot with “what will work on instagram” in the back of my head. I find this mentality takes away some of the real and raw moments I usually try to capture that I can later look back on as memories. So over the next month or so I will be busy going through and finally editing some of my favourite moments from 2019. Found this gem from a hike back in winter.
Ive shot 100gb of footage & photos this week and figured I’d treat myself with a mission up the Rimutaka Trig 🚶🏻♂️ One of the easiest most rewarding tracks (he says that as his face is dripping with sweat, but only because it’s like 30 degrees in that sun at the moment and hello summer I guess! ☀️🥵) in the Welli region - only 20 mins to the top and 360 views of literally everywhere. it’s the goods 😎🤞🏻

The dreamiest campsite we’ve found on our journey around North Island New Zealand! If you are traveling with kids and find yourself in the Northlands of New Zealand I highly recommend making a stop at #Ruakaka • we found ourselves on a 5 hour journey through the night and were too tired to continue and thank our lucky stars we stumbled upon this magical place! With all kids asleep we pulled in late at night and woke up to a 5 mile white sand beach and a beautiful playground and bathrooms! You’re allowed to camp a 10m self contained campervan and stay for max 1 night. If you’re in the area check it out! It’ll immediately take your breathe away! .
