Day 2 of Accessibility Campaign: I have been insulted many times before for parking in a handicap spot. I walk with a minor limp and most people relate my injury more to an accident than brain injury. Some don’t even notice the limp at all. I have been judged before for using a handicap parking spot when people don’t think I need one, but I know of people who have disabled parking permits when they DON’T need one, DON’T even have a permit or are using a family members permit. WTF?
Obviously that makes me upset, but I am not here to speak on my anger. I am here to create consciousness and ask you to consider me when I have to park farther and walk with pain and aches to get to where I need to be. I am asking you to consider me when I have to anxiously cross busy streets because I had to park far. I am asking you to be real with yourself, get over the fake disability you created and don’t even think about parking in the handicap spot if you don’t have a permit 🤷🏻♀️ Not all disabilities are visible, but if you don’t have a disability, should you park in the handicap spot prohibiting it from others who need it? No. 📸 @byjules_
