✨Introducing Artie Joseph Wakely ✨
Breaking hearts since Wednesday 22nd May at 12:49pm weighing in at a tasty 7lbs 11 💕
Thank you everyone for your well wishes - it’s been the scariest / bestest few days after a bit of a bumpy start but can’t wait to see what’s in store for us as a new family! 👶🏻✨
* BACK TO WORK *
How old was your baby when you went back to work? Yesterday I did my first KIT day and it was also the first time I had left Ozzy for the whole day, he was only with my Mam so I knew he would be fine but I really missed him. Iv got another two lined up in the next few weeks and then I’ll go back to doing my usual 3 days for the last two weeks of the summer term and then it’s 6 weeks off for summer holidays so I really can’t complain. Ozzy will almost be 1 year old by the time I go back to work properly in September!! Wow how this time has flown!! In a way it was nice to get my brain back into work mode, I just wish he could come with me!! Any tips to make the transition easier?.

G O I N G B A C K T O W O R K... Two weeks of KIT days come to an end... What did it teach me? 👩🏻🎓
I can still function in a challenging adult environment, all be it a very safe one to dip my toe into again. But it will take a few more weeks to get my brain and ‘driver’ personality back to where it was 🤯
I can be strict with time to make sure to get home for bathtime, rather than saying yes. It takes good planning and a bit of stubbornness but it’s important. I have a good mind to spot the times when I can’t ⏰
These two weeks reminded me how fast time goes and how precious my time with Little B before he goes to nursery really is. He changes every day. There’s something new to amaze him every day. He smiles and chuckles his way through every day. He lights up even a tough day. His delight to see me when I get home is adorable 💙
I have no second thoughts about going back to work. I love my job and I have chosen to return. But having a time out from being Mummy to dip my toe in has reminded me to savour even more the time I have still being a full time Mummy. It is the best job in the world 🤱🏻
And the best advice? Make your own choices and stick to them. Happy at home and happy at work, it’s about making the choices to make them both work for us all 👪
☝️How excited I am that today is my last day of work before maternity leave!

G U I L T ~ Today marks the start of my final week of maternity, I’m trying to cherish every moment (even the night wake ups) and enjoy our days together. I can’t quite help but feel daunted by the new role which faces me. These last 10 months have been a rollercoaster of emotions and I feel so lucky to have had the time with my little man. Here’s to the next chapter 👩🏼💻🤱🏼💃🏼#mumguilt #mumguiltisreal#backtowork#maternityleave#mumofboy#alfieesmonddavis#balance
L O I S • Weet je nog, dat ik een tijdje geleden dit leuke geboortekaartje van Lois postte en vroeg of je de binnenkant ook wilde zien? S W I P E ---> want daar is ie! De meeste kaartjes maak ik met verschillende lettertypes, maar bij het geboortekaartje voor Lois deden we alles hetzelfde. En eerlijk, het ziet er super leuk uit toch? Mooi rustig en toch compleet!
#flashbackfriday 1989 - I’m 32 years old with #newborn@billiedee_g . I’d been at work until about 8 hours before she was born. Thanks to the amazing #jujusundin ( & months of her brilliant workout/#childbirth training, I had a 2 hr 35 min birth. No painkillers. Just stomped and roared and did it naturally! Back on air 2 hours after! Took a week off and then back to nightly live TV with whichever #cameraman not actively doing a studio shot looking after her! Billie came almost three weeks early (thanks to a #paparazzo chasing me and me falling over!😡. I’d tried to plan to have her during our off-air Christmas week! Kid never did #playbytherules ! 🤣🥰) I #breastfed Billie for over 2 years and took here everywhere with me: on the road while reporting and later with a #nanny who did day duties while I did #nightduty in whichever hotel were staying in. Thing is, I had part of my childhood in #tanzania and saw #africanwomen approach childbirth as part of life and not as something embellished by fear and #commercialopportunity making a woman feel needy, scared and coerced into buying a lot of needless stuff. Never owned a baby bag. Never once use #commercially prepared #babyfood . Used a #babybackpack (instead of the African #kitambaa !) and carried my baby wherever I went. I thoroughly recommend it. But then, I was lucky that I was #onairtalent and my #bosses gritted their teeth and ‘put up’ with it! After all, #maternityleave and #sickleave didn’t really exist for us in our biz back then!
Today was my last day in the classroom for the year as I’m starting maternity leave. It was so hard saying goodbye to my kiddos as some of them cried their eyes out, but I know they will be in capable hands for the last two weeks of school. I’m pretty sure I stood in my room for a good 5 minutes just looking around thinking there was more to do, but I made myself leave and now we are ready for baby to arrive! 😍
