~POWER OF FREE DECISION~
When I first got married of course the next question from family and friends were, when are you getting pregnant. I remember the first conversation I had with my dad and I told him we wanted to wait and he got super angry saying that I was blocking his prayers and etc. (needless to say every conversation after that I just said we were trying to get him off my back). Others started to feel like something was wrong with me. And some of my friends asked me every week if I was pregnant. .
I’m not sure why waiting is such a taboo to people but there are people who actually want to accomplish things before starting a family. It’s never really okay to make someone feel like if they don’t have kids in a span of a certain time then something is wrong with them. The pressure is quite overwhelming. .
With that being said, I am so glad I stood firm and not let the pressure of friends and family force me into a decision that didn’t seem right to me at the time. Since telling the same people that normally questioned me about pregnancy, since letting them know I’m pregnant, I haven’t heard from them. Not that they have to but it just goes to show that it’s good to make life choices based on your own discretion and never succumb to pressure. Be careful not to let people live their life through you but have faith and trust God with all your plans.

So much wisdom here from @innatetraditions #repost⠀
Human babies are born relatively prematurely in comparison to most mammals. Newborn babies are dependent on their Mothers and primary caregivers to help regulate their: temperature, their breathing, their stress levels, their nervous systems until about 9months of age.⠀
Newborn human babies can not move to keep warm nor move away from danger on their own.⠀
Newborn human babies share many qualities with 'altricial infants' (those mammals such as baby kangaroos), that are born after a short gestation period, and live in their Mother's pouches until their period of 'exogestation' is complete.⠀
There is not a deficiency in this design of total and complete dependency of newborn human babies. There is perfection. We are designed as humans to rapidly grow our brains during this period of 'exogestation' (the 9 months AFTER birth), according to what we need to both SURVIVE and THRIVE in our particular environments.⠀
If collectively we understood that babies do not complete their gestation until 9months AFTER birth - we would assure that Mothers and babies stayed together during this time - in our familial, community and societal ACTION. If collectively we understood that Mothers are GESTATING their babies until 9months AFTER birth - we would support Mothers' 24/7 work, of growing human LIFE. WE are all dependent on this work of MOTHERS - because Mothers are ushering in the future generations. #postpartum#postpartumcare#baby#motherandbaby#mamaandbaby#maternalhealth#health#motherhood#moms#infant#infanthealth#infants#infancy#maternity#gestation
You can tell today is Friday because when a friend asked if we wanted to join them at the local bakery for cupcakes, we said an enthusiastic "YES!" and when it was my turn to order I chose to buy 6, you know .... "For the weekend." 🤷
