MANLY IDEALISM | Last week I gave a presentation on “Manly Idealism” @21convention in Orlando. (The speech will be available in a few months through 21 University and free online probably by spring).
Men all over the world are being encouraged to “kill their heroes” and tear down ideals of masculinity. But those ideals are only being replaced with affirmations of weakness and mediocrity.
Men have also been following a cultural script that makes women into angels and saviors. Jung went so far as to say that “the worship of woman is the worship of the soul.” He suggests this idea originated in the Middle Ages with Dante. I also believe this to be an error, especially today. Women are neither angels nor devils, of course — they are simply women. But they cannot show men how to reach their potential as men.
Men need male heroes, leaders, mentors and gods as manly ideals — a solar, vertically oriented culture that looks upward. I believe that men should lift each other up, recognize masculine excellence, and work to be “the light that others strive toward, instead of the darkness they retreat into.”
This kind of positivity was reflected in the overall tone of the conference, and I am proud to have contributed to that.
It was great to reconnect with my good friend @tannerguzy as well as familiar attendees, staff and speakers like @edlatimore , @aja_cortes and others. Had a great time hanging out at a nightclub with our security cops along with mental and physical strength guru @elliothulse and fighter @jonfitchsmash — a smart guy who has a lot to bring to the table.

THE MANOSPHERE | I’ve been writing about men and masculinity for over a decade, and I’ve seen the online collection of problem-solvers and commenters known as “The Manosphere” evolve. In October (24-27), I’ll be speaking again @21convention in Orlando, FL — where the conversation comes offline and men can listen, exchange ideas and network face-to-face.
I’ve spoken at three 21 Convention events so far — most recently in Warsaw, Poland — and these events present a host of balanced viewpoints and strategies. They’re also a lot of fun, packed with workshops, panels, dinners and opportunities to pick the brains of outstanding authors and personalities — some of whom have influenced my own thinking.
I’ll be presenting and expanding on key concepts from The Way of Men, and running a workshop on writing from a masculine perspective.
This event will be packed with speakers who have dedicated their lives and careers to helping men navigate the challenges of living a masculine life in the 21st Century.
Confirmed speakers include energized and dynamic coaches like @elliothulse and the author of “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” Dr. Robert Glover. Pro-male psychologist and author of “The Tactical Guide to Women,” Dr. Shawn T. Smith will be there to tell men how to manage risk in dating and marriage. Former heavyweight boxer @edlatimore and fitness guru-turned-philosopher @aja_cortes will be presenting, as will “Family Alpha” @hunterdrewtfa. My friend @tannerguzy, author of “The Appearance of Power” and passionate advocate of both masculine style and leading strong families will be there. Attendees will also hear from @ivanthrone, @donovansharpe1, @goldmundunleashed, @georgeabruno, “The Man Mindset” author Steve Williams @themanmindset, radio host Pat Campbell, Ken Curry, Bobby Dino, Texas Dom and more — as well as 21 Convention founder Anthony Dream Johnson @beachmuscles65 and Socrates from “Manning Up Smart.”
If you can make it to Florida and you’re interested in investing in your own improvement and ensuring that unapologetically masculine voices continue to be heard, get yourself a ticket — and I’ll see you there.
The deadly sin of sloth is defined as physical laziness and also as a failure to do things that one should do. It is perhaps one of the easiest sins to fall in due to our modern comfort level- air, heat, indoor plumbing, TVs, gaming consoles, plush seating, social media, etc.
But let us not forget that as humans we are expected to pray and work. Be content in your hope in God, but do not fall into laziness. •
A quote from the late legendary stoic Marcus Aurelius sums it up very well “At dawn, when you have trouble getting out of bed, tell yourself; “I have to go to work- as a human being. What do I have to complain of, if I’m going to do what I was born for- the things I was brought in this world to do. Or is this what I was created for? To huddle under the blankets and stay warm?”
Stay Frosty. Strive for sainthood. You will not get there by doing nothing and being comfortable.
Seem like nowadays I’m livin’ differently..
Every other day is like a mystery..
People disappearin like it’s history..
But I’m not one to fear and live in misery..
I just plant the seeds and grow the money trees..
Feel the honey bees is comin for me..
Still I feel like God is tryna come for me..
But then He tell me NAH I’m just the one to be..
They be saying Taj you tryna chase the likes... Then I tell em nah I’m just chasin the light..
Then I tell em nah I’m not the chasin type..
Quick to tell a flaky chick I ain’t your type... 💯🖤💚

"Since we are receiving our rights to an unshakeable kingdom we should be extremely thankful and offer God the purest worship that delights his heart as we lay down our lives in absolute surrender, filled with awe. For our God is a holy, devouring fire.” - Hebrews 12:28-29, The Passion
How is this verse + the season of Advent stirring your heart towards worship today?
Yo Alpha! If you’re brave enough to challenge those around you, type ’I am Alpha' in the comments.
Consider this principle: ’People value what is more challenging to obtain.’ That's one of the reasons she isn't returning your DMs.
If you make your attention too easy to get — it becomes worthless.
Stop bending over backwards. You’ll never regret being more of a challenge.
Be the best.
