With the start of 2019, been reflecting on my first full year at Bon Appétit and six years of Gather Journal as Eye magazine from the UK has recently and very kindly featured my work at both titles. When I was in design school (and still as an adult), Eye along with Emigre, Creative Review, and The Face were all my design bibles; so to be featured in Eye is a pure pinch me moment. Feeling extremely grateful to all the folks I’ve learned from and collaborated with on this path - thank you all. Check out this special magazine-focused edition (with some incredible company including friends @californiasunday). Thank you to Eye Editor @johnlw and the beautiful writing of @thedailyheller for the feature. If you’re in NYC, pick up a copy of @eyemagazine_ , @gatherjournal, and @bonappetitmag at @casamagazinesnyc in the west village. Portrait by the incredibly talented and very patient @emmafishman. Excited for 2019! #longliveprint

@maddyporter shared this lovely capture of her childhood home with us, and we absolutely had to share it with you all. “I grew up on a houseboat… on land. In the middle of the woods, where my dad plopped it when he bought property on the San Juan Islands in the early 80s. There was no electricity, no heat, and well water but knowing nothing else, it was perfect.” —
Issue #2 of Dear Lois Magazine is all about home — the tangible structure and the emotional experiences. We love hearing all your stories. Keep sharing with us to keep this celebration of the pre-order going strong! (cough *two more backers to get to 100* cough)

I’ve been sharing a lot of Dear Lois issue 2 sneak peeks over on @dearlois_mag . But here is a sneak peek for you now! —
This is a submission we received from @missdeedas . Divya, with much thought and care, interviewed 5 immigrants/children of immigrants on how they’ve dealt with the mix of their home culture and the culture of the states while growing up. It was originally for her design school thesis last year — “My thesis explores stories of how people keep their cultural identities alive, through social practices and cultural nuances, while living in a society that isn’t inherently theirs.” We feel very lucky to host two of those interviews in Dear Lois, and we guarantee you will find them incredibly insightful and special. There is humor, self-reflection, photographs filled with memories, perseverance, recipes, and more.
The rest of today I actually plan on crocheting and I will post in my stories to prove it!! While I’m doing that you should head over to our @kickstarter and order your copy of issue 2!

Good morning, happy Tuesday!
We have a pre-order campaign running right now to help gather the funds upfront to print issue 2 of Dear Lois Magazine, did you know? —
Dear Lois is for all women. For each issue we invite women from all walks of life to share personal stories centered around a certain theme. Too many patients pay inflated prices for prescriptions. While politicians denounce the supposed power of Big Pharma, the pharmaceutical manufacturers are a puny, disorganized force compared with the companies that control the pricing and availability of drugs. These middlemen—called pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs—are the ones who decide whether your insurance will cover a drug, how much you’ll pay for it at the counter, and how much of that payment the drugstore will keep.
The founders of Blink Health offer an alternative: the chance to eliminate the middlemen and comparison-shop at their website to see if you can get a better deal than what’s being offered by your insurance plan or the drugstore. John Tierney details
the innovative tech company that could eliminate the inflated costs we pay for drugs. Read "Disrupting the Pharmacy," via the link in our bio!🔗👆💊💉

Full transparency (which, if you followed our first pre-order campaign, you know I’m a big fan of): we are currently behind schedule with our @kickstarter campaign. It’s still totally ok, and every campaign has a lull in the middle, but we need your help. We think it’s important that we’re open about how much these print runs cost and how we’re trying to pay all our contributors for their work. It truly takes a village to get publications out there in the world, and we hope while we’re promoting this second issue of Dear Lois there are people resonating with its message and that our ‘village’ can continue to grow. Are there any questions you have about the second issue or how Dear Lois is run? We’re an open book over here! —
In the meantime, if you’d like to see Dear Lois more in the world, we’d be honored if you continued telling your friends, coworkers, family about this upcoming issue’s pre-order campaign. We feel so strongly about the work we’re trying to showcase in this magazine, and we need your help getting the word out there!
