As much as you choose them, you deserve the same thing. Any type of relationship is hard at times, but there are very clear indicators that someone else is not putting in the effort to respect what you are trying to build together. Once your gut tells you things are off, you know something is wrong. Not your crazy mind…but your inner wisdom. For me, I give people the world and I don’t ask for much. The only thing I ask for is doing what you can to water what we are trying to create together. If you stop doing that, I’m not going to beg for you to come back. I will watch you drift away and maybe if it’s in the stars one day it will be again. 🌊

Are you someone who goes out of your way to make others happy, even at your own expense? Do you feel anxious that you might say or do something that might upset others? Are you someone who tries to avoid confrontation at all costs? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is great to be caring and considerate of others. However, when we start to neglect our own feelings in order to please others, we deplete ourselves from happiness and self-worth. Eventually, these chronic negative feelings can lead to anxiety, depression, and/or addiction. When resentment grows, we may also engage in passive aggression or emotional outbursts that leave us embarrassed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .
People-pleasing behavior has various underlying reasons, but they predominantly stem from childhood. As a child, you may have learned that you had to ‘earn’ love and validation. That is, you must do something for others in order to be loved and validated by them. Now, as an adult, you may depend on others for your sense of self-worth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is something I have personally struggled with. I am unlearning it by instilling the belief that my worth is not defined by external validation. It comes from within. We can be kind and still have healthy boundaries and be assertive when needed.

Crispy and delicious black bean chilli empanadas😛Little pockets of warming chilli are just what you need to cosy up on a cool Autumnal evening💥The pastry can be made in a bowl - no food processor required and one pan to prepare the filling🙌They make a great lunchbox filler too! Wishing I could share these with my lovely friend @biancazapatka to celebrate her milestone🤩She always inspires me with her delicious pastry recipes and is a very special lady💕Recipe below and on the app 🤗✨
Black bean chilli empanadas
1.5 cups plain or spelt flour
1/2 cup vegan butter
1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp water
1/4 cup dairy free milk
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 courgette, diced
1 carrot, diced
1 onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced
1 cup black beans
1/2 cup sweetcorn
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp coconut sugar
4 tbsp tom puree mixed with 4 tbsp water
Prepare pastry by adding plain flour, salt and vegan butter to a bowl and rub with your fingers until fine and crumbly. Add in water a tbsp at a time until the dough sticks together to form a dough. Flatten into a disc and set aside in the fridge to chill.
Heat a medium pan with the olive oil and sauté the courgette, carrot, onion and pepper for 10 mins until softened. Add in all remaining ingredients and bring to a gentle simmer. Simmer for 20 mins, until thick.
Preheat oven to 200•c and line a baking tray. Remove dough from fridge and roll out on a floured surface to 2mm thick. Using a large cookie cutter or glass, cut out circles and brush the edges with a little dairy free milk. Fill with 1 tbsp of the chilli and fold in half, sealing the edges with your fingers and then with a fork. Brush with a little more milk and bake for 25 mins, until golden. Serve with guac, ketchup and limes!
