SKETCHBOOKS & PERFECTIONISM ✨ Do you known anyone who loves sketchbooks and journals but almost never uses them? As if they are meant to be bought and kept clean for some day when you know for sure that every note or sketch would be awesome without fail. Of course we want our sketchbooks (some of which cost insane money btw) to look great inside as well as outside. I get it - they are almost like a new form of art, some artists are pro at filling them up with incredible art. Yet there’s something to remember - there’s a big difference between sketchbooks as final products and your daily sketchbooks. I have a confession to make - I’ve treated my sketchbooks as if I absolutely cannot fail there. It stressed me out, I feared to make a mistake cause it felt like one spoiled page can ruin my whole sketchbook. Like it won’t be valuable if I mess it up. And the further I went - the more scared I was to add another drawing to it. That’s not healthy for your art skills and even mental health. So I’ve set some rules for myself: 1) I try my best to make the sketch work, if I fail - so be it, it’s also some good experience. 2) I get optimum sketchbook for quality and price - I check paper and binding and make sure it fits my style. I don’t want to felt like I have to treat it carefully because of its price. 3) If I don’t feel like finishing a sketch - I can let it be and get back later (or not) - like those longboards in my sketchbook. No pressure. The goal is to draw as much as you can and learn everyday, not to fear if the next sketch will meet your expectation. Just enjoy the ride and you’ll get there 😊✌️ #inktober#inktober2019#inktober2018#sakuramicron#pentelbrushpen#staciareverie#illustration#sketchbook#art_toinspire#art_overnight#arts_promote
PART 2 | SKETCHBOOK FOR INK AND WATERCOLOR SKETCHING - 50% DONE! ✨So I’m halfway through my Fabriano Venezia sketchbook that I used for my ink and watercolor sketching drawings of objects. I felt that this A6 format is ideal for these little things and even that the paper (Fabriano Accademia) is not specifically made for watercolors - it handles medium amounts of water pretty well. I was a bit sceptical about drawing over binding line but it turned out that I loved it! It’s a bit hard to work when you’re in the middle of sketchbook and you have to clip down the pages to make sure paper always stays flat but it’s nothing too major to worry about. Another 50% to go! #inktober#inktober2019#inktober2018#sakuramicron#pentelbrushpen#staciareverie#illustration#sketchbook#art_toinspire#art_overnight#arts_promote
