Heading back to the land of bread, cheese and bike rides 😍 France, it has been wayyyy too long and I am so ready to be back 🥖 🇫🇷 The 11 hour car ride has actually come at a pretty good time - 11 hours of obligatory foot resting 😂 I’m staying away from running until I go back for another physio appointment in 2 weeks which sadly means we will have to give our Dordogne runs a rest this time 😭 Luckily, that leaves plenty of time for cycling training 🚴♀️ Hoping that all of this rest (and boring foot exercises) mean that I’ll still manage the Duathlon that’s in 3 weeks time... #wishfulthinking

Neuropathic pain is a sharp, shooting, persistent, and terrible pain 🤕. It arises from changes occurring in the Central Nervous System SECONDARY to peripheral #nerve #injury. A nerve is damaged and it creates sustained activation of #nociceptors and/or nociceptive afferents (inputs). 👍
This leads to #neuroplastic changes in the #CNS, which create CNS #sensitization or neuronal hyper-excitability, which basically means it’s much easier to feel pain than prior. It can usually be controlled with #opioids or NSAIDS, but these aren’t always available in cases of diabetes, cancer, AIDS, etc...😕
Thalamic pain is an interesting type of pain that isn’t talked about much 🧐, but it results from a stroke or an occlusion in the thalamogeniculate #artery. This artery supplies #blood to the lateral posterior (backside) side of the #thalamus 🧠. This usually results in a thalamic #lesion and a pain in the middle of the head (this is called “central pain”). •
People with thalamic pain syndrome can experience spontaneous aching and burning 🥵 pain in abnormal body regions either due to the activation of various nociceptive pathways or it may prevent the activation of pain suppression pathways. •

Unhappy Spouse=Unhappy House
Y'all remember how I sliced my hand open at work right? I got 4 shots and 4 stitch. Well yesterday my hand was on fire. Soo much pain. Nothing was working. Not even the 800 mg ibuprofen
I was really struggling yesterday. No one has offered me any help to run this house since my injury. I've been on the go as if nothing has happened: cooking, dishes, laundry, potty training, going to work. With one good hand. No one has asked how I've been feeling or how my hand has been feeling either

Here's dinner! 3.5 oz of slow cooked sirloin with peppers and onions, with some green beans smothered in Dijon mustard (the grainy type, with no sugars/additives or any of that!) and hot sauce. And because I'm all about volume eating, I also made a salad from the Aldi salad kit, just with the veggies 😊
If I was going to practice, I would have skipped the hot sauce. That's a big no-no before working out! And I probably would have chosen a leaner protein so it doesn't sit heavy in my tum. But since I'll just put in a quick full body strength workout at home, I don't need that much energy.
I injured myself last week during practice (I dislocated my toe) and unfortunately I still can't put weight on my foot. My plan for this week is to eat at a slight deficit and strength train at home. The way I do it is by reducing 50g of carbs per day which equals to a serving of carbs, more or less. So all I'll do is skip the serving of freekeh that I have every day and that's it 😁 I'll take advantage of this short recovery period to make it a mini cut (it'll just be water weight, given the reduced amount of carbs, but that'll be enough to show more lines) and look fantastic for my vacation next week ☀️ can't wait!!
