So glad we have Crew’s “cheese” face documented forever!! .
How are you guys?! Have you had an epic summer?! Or a low-key unexpected one, like us? It’s been 2 weeks since I last posted or checked our feed - that might be a new record for me! 🙈 .
Since our return (originally just intended to be a visit) from 7 months of full-time travel and living in a new country each month, with a cancer diagnosis one week after our return, our life has taken a turn we never saw coming. .
We miss our travel life fiercely - as crazy and stressful as it was at times - and are itching to be by a beach again... but we have been tremendously blessed and are embracing all the good that has come our way since we’ve returned to Utah. .
While we navigate foreign health territory we’re looking forward to being surrounded by familiarity and being back in our home with our sweet cat, Lucky. .
Zoe is beyond excited to be starting school at a Chinese immersion program (we’re pretty excited for her too!), Crew can’t wait to go to preschool with his cousin, and Colby and I are doing our best to stay positive and figure out what happens next in our life and journey. .
Tell us what’s new with you!

Take us back please 🙏🏻 To warm sunsets and palms trees. 🌅 🌴 @queensland
This gorgeous girl is absolutely hanging to get out diving again. I'm not overly keen on her diving in Australia yet (we have ALOT of sharks in Perth) so she will be well and truly ready by the time we travel to Thailand in April! We have family coming for part of our trip, so she is pretty excited to dive with her Uncle and maybe even her Pop if we can convince the old boy to get back out there 😁 Her newest obsession is freediving - she spends alot of time watching videos of peoples accounts on Instagram (and then asking me if she can sit on the bottom of the pool with a brick to "train" - umm no!) and conducting lessons in the pool with her buddies 😂. But her love of the ocean and the peace she finds underwater makes me so happy. And at this age it's so important to encourage and support their passions, because let's face it..... technology has turned teenagers so unmotivated and lazy 🙄 So while she seems to pick these hobbies and passions that terrify me a little at her young age - it's my job to support and encourage her all the way.

One of the greatest moments on this trip so far was walking along and experiencing the Great Wall of China.🇨🇳 We rode the cable car up to the 14th tower. It was very quick but we got some nice views along the way. We then walked to the 6th tower. It was a bit bumpy and wobbly with lots of steps and steep stairways, but such a fun adventure. It took us about 2 hours with a few breaks in between. .
We then took the luge slide down to the bottom. It was great and we all screamed with the excitement of it. 😝 .
We visited the Mutianyu section of the wall. It’s one of the best preserved parts and easiest to access from Beijing. We visited on a Saturday and it wasn’t nearly half as busy as we expected it to be. Highly recommend it.
Tips for doing it with kids 🌟Take the cable car up and the slide down. There is a chair lift that is linked to the slide but that only takes you to section 6 by taking the cable car it brings you to section 14 and allows you to see and experience the wall a lot better. So buy one way tickets for each to do it this way. 🌟It is doable with kids it’s tough as we said lots of uneven and step pathways with steps so we we used our baby carrier a lot. It’s definitely not pram accessible and make sure you wear comfortable footwear and clothing. 🌟There is lots of restaurants and shops at the entrance area before you go to the wall and also at the cable car towers but only one in between tower 14 and 6 so make sure you bring plenty of water and snacks. 🌟Make sure you go toilet before you head up as there is no toilets after tower 14. 🌟Personally I wouldn’t take the chair lift with little ones as it’s open with just a bar across your lap, the cable car is fully enclosed and a much safer option.
Have you been or ever considered visiting the Great Wall of China ?
‘Begin each day with a little courage, a little curiosity, and a little spring in your step!’ For me this reminder elevates my mood, and makes me embrace life more. How do you start your day my friends? ❤️
