Math can wait, so can spelling!
If you are having a miserable homeschool experience, start here!
I know it scares you to death, but I promise it will be ok.
Take a break,
Find the things you can enjoy and connect over.
A walk in nature, a puzzle or board game.
Cook a meal together.
Cuddle on the couch and share some popcorn.
Take time to know your little human. ✨
Listen more than you speak,
Open your mind and consider new possibilities about the relationship you are building.
Set goals together and come up with a plan.
Join their team, instead of being their opponent. ✨
I hear you!
It’s not going the way you planned....
You thought you would be getting closer to your child by homeschooling, instead it’s never felt so rocky.
And here’s why:
You don’t actually know your kid.
If like me, your kids went to school for a few years first, they may truly be a stranger.
Even more important to understand is they don’t know who they are either, or even what they like.
Remember someone has been telling them all day what they can and can’t do with their time and what’s important to know. ✨
Curriculum can wait...shoot, just start “winter break” early!
You don’t have to stay stuck.
You don’t have to resent and regret this decision.
Learning will flow freely in an environment of trust and respect, but building that type of environment does not happen overnight.
I’m talking about cooperation not coercion.
You are on the same team.
When they win, we win and vice versa. 🙌
Listen I still stop.
When I feel our connection if off, when the bickering is off the charts and I’m feeling “not heard” more often than I can stand.
The lessons and skills we develop on those days always exceed traditional academics.
We tap into self-awareness, we identify problems and consider solutions, we take steps towards healing.
I never want you to feel like this isn’t a process or that I have a secret.
I’m figuring it out, but I know where I experience success and this is definitely the foundation. 💯

This is one question that has always been on my mind. I was in a meeting recently and I was asked from what time to what time do we do "school" and I couldn't even really say because I really do believe that there's no end to learning (conscious or unconscious) for our children and even as adults.
But In the more traditional sense of midterm, long vacation or public holidays, do we take breaks? I shared my thoughts in a new blog post (link to blog in bio) and shared what we were up to for our last mid term week
Do you take breaks in your homeschool? Share with us.
If you are homeschooling or plan to homeschool and are willing to be interactive, you can join our homeschooling group on Telegram - Link is also in bio (Our goal is to discuss basics of homeschooling to help with your foundation and plan trips and meetings together)
#homeschooling#kidsart#artteacher#clay#clayart#wimberleyvillagelibrary I taught a tweens clay class last Saturday. So many fun ideas! We started our conversation talking about gratitude leaves in reflection of kindness and mindfulness. Everyone made at least one leaf, but what they really needed to do was play and explore. So we did! This is my very favorite way to teach! Provide materials, some instruction and ideas. But really I enjoy the kids taking the lead and I help with guidance as needed.
