You must be willing to fly. To leave your comfort. To say goodbye to societal norms. To jump into the unknown. To forget all you think you know. And be okay with falling. Accepting of failure. Unaffected by people’s judgements of you. Embracing of the journey. Trusting of the process. Because only then will life unfold. Your head will become clear. The answers will come. How can you truly see when your vision is blocked by your fears, comparison and worry? How can you truly listen when you are listening to everyone’s thoughts but your own and with that negative voice inside your head...? 👀 .
Attempting Tittibhasana to Straddle Press & it was a hard no 😆🤷🏽♀️🤸🏽♀️ (Costa Rica earlier this year)
Since the get-go one thing I’ve always been most fascinated with is how much control some of these yogis have in their movements - not even the movements themselves at first. I was just in such awe with the amazing discipline I saw it took to be patient enough to approach things with ease and control vs always going balls to the wall. @yogoskenz@erinkellyart@solar_yogi@gypsyon__ are just a few names that come to mind immediately when I think of this control i long to have some day too 💛

HIP FLEXORS STRETCH
This is a great pose to stretch your hip flexors. Let’s take a closer look to the exercise.
First, place your knee against the wall. If you’re not flexible enough to do it yet, you can separate it a few centimeters from the wall as well. The other leg stays in front of you, with a 90 degree angle on the knee.
Once in position, drive your hips to the wall until your glutes touch the back of the feet. Then, slowly start to raise the body, first going into fingertips, releasing the pressure on your hands, then place both hands on the knee, and continue all the way up until you can touch the wall with your back. Take note that this process can last some months, respect the progress and adaptations of your body.
An important cue to think about is the pelvic tilt: you want to stay in a posterior pelvic tilt the whole time. In this way, we can stretch the hip flexors following three ways. The first, is by flexing at the knee: this will pre-stretch your rectus femoris (your quads). The second, is by extending the hips, and this happens slowly through the positions until the body touches the wall, that’s the limit. The third, is given by the posterior pelvic tilt. This type of activation really stretch deeper the hip flexors, in particular the iliopsoas.
Now, time to give this stretch a go and let me know how it goes. It will for sure improve your overall flexibility and it has a very good aesthetic carryover in positions like the handstand: if you’re wondering why your hips can’t stay in place in a handstand, maybe it could be a hip flexors limitation!
Have a nice stretch!

– Crosses, Circles and Loops –
This exercise is the first exercise of my daily handstand routine (after a warm-up dance and a short asana sequence). The shoulders draw patterns on the transverse plane while keeping their elevation quite active. I start with legs and hips not too tight and sometimes do another one set with legs tight (which makes it harder because of less rebalancing mechanisms).
I advocate for not making the shapes too big either as at some point there are physical limitations to the ranges involved due to a variety of factors (flexibility, bone structure...). Shape quality is important to me for the sake of attentive quality work and this goes hand in hand with doing it slowly too. .
I'm a firm believer in exploring the edges of patterns away from the more optimal alignments in a controlled manner (believer, since I have not done proper experiments myself within this specific context). The 'optimal alignment' here is a physical one: that of the shoulders being directly above the wrists so the arms are vertical. The idea, among others, is that familiarity with the 'less comfortable' points will make one even more comfortable in the optimal alignment.
Akin to exposure therapy, the 'less discomfort' comes from having visited those places in a gradual way. The awareness that we can handle such places both physically and skill-wise (these two are normally learnt hand in hand – maybe they're the same thing?) expands the space that we know and that would otherwise feel uncertain and more potentially prone to injury, thus expanding the potential for creativity as safety is normally linked to creativity[*1]. 'Unexpectability' is gradually decoupled from physical threat so its exploratory potential can be utilised at its most when it comes to more creative work.
Thanks @movehackney for the venue again. What a pleasure training and filming in such a space!
[1* Though increasing possibilities is not always a recipe for expanding creativity, sometimes limitations can also be a source a source of creativity. Though that is not the focus of this post.]
Foto aus @flexxfitwarendorf
I was wondering why I lost flexibility in my handstands and then I did this thing where you push your shoulders forward and it was a Christmas miracle 😂

And, the more I realize that home is a feeling, rather than a place.

This industry is unbelievably good at lying to you.
They prey on the fact that beginners will overthink, overcommit, and never execute.
They setup systems to take advantage of your laziness, and never have to deliver results or help.
They sell you ideas that are full of shit.
Isn’t it time to take some responsibility for your own discipline?
Can we agree?
Most will not take responsibility, most will blame their environment, and most will blame anyone but themselves.
If you are part of the 1% that knows deep down it’s all under your control, then you too know that regardless of what industry tells you, you don’t have to be the victim of needless blame and suffering.
There are some simple steps one can take to avoid these:
Find help. I mean literally, just find someone who has done what you want to do, and ask them for help.
Reflect. Make a habit of questioning your beliefs.
Execute. Action begets motivation, if you are waiting for something, it’s best you stop waiting and start doing.
The industry will hate that you have found solid ground in their sea of information overload. After all, they don’t want anything to make sense.
"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect” said Mark Twain.
Be uncomfortable, be odd, be abnormal, be whoever you would be proud of.

Your girl is cooking up something special for you guys to come in the new year and it’s had me playing on my head a lot more than usual.
Funny after I recorded this video here I realized this was where all my inversion shenanigans started as some of you may remember seeing this wavy wall, what an unplanned coincidence. 🤷🏼♀️😬 okay that’s all I’ve got for now friends, happy Thursday!
- Year 27 is now over -
Short summary and reflection.
Last year I didn’t set any goals because I generally don’t need goals to motivate me to do stuff and I find it more exciting to keep my options open. The randomness of this didn’t disappoint; this year I ended up moving, selling all my beloved things (including my Ducati 3), rent out my home, move to a different country, training in circus school in Kiev and participate in Norways got talent. I would never in my wildest dreams have seen that coming. I have also done 15 workshops in 5 different countries and discovered that I really enjoy it and want to do more of that over the years to come.
Training wise it has been a very good year. I think my practice have gone from being a good amateur level, to a really really crappy pro level. But I have also been injured a lot, especially over the last 6 months. I guess at the level I am at now, the work I do puts a lot more strain on my body, and in a way i'm playing with my limits on how much it can take (especially for being 190cm, 88kg and have an operated hip and everything that goes with it). And my nature is to always push things to it’s limits and see what I can get away with. Unfortunately, this worked out better as a 20 y/o then now. This has made me think that I need to change the way I do things, and also that I most likely isn’t suited to be a performer (at the level I would like to be).
Now over to year 28. I still don’t want to limit anything by setting goals. But I have some expectations: Workshops for the rest of the winter and spring is almost all set and will be announced during the next days. (Hint: Austria, Switzerland, Germany, New York, Miami, Texas, Seattle, San Diego, Germany. I’m super excited!)
I'll keep grinding in my own training, and see where, when, who the year will bring me.

L-SHAPE HANDSTAND KICK-UP | Ok handstanders and yogis it’s clear to me you want to handstand and really learn this stuff🙌 That’s good news because getting handstand takes desire, drive and dedication 🤸🏻♀️ Let’s keep going!
Day 5 #offthewallhandstand
Today we go over L-shape kick up. You’ll even get a chance to use the wall in order to really feel this shape in your body. Check the video for today’s shape. A few tips with this one:
1. Your top leg hip should remain closed. Don’t open your hip and swing your leg.
2. L-shape helps the hips stack over the shoulders so don’t rush the second leg up. Find a hover and then slowly bring up that bottom leg.
Swipe 👉🏼 for a how to video with more tips and a demo of the above tips.
Tag a friend who’s working on handstands🙌
Remember to check out my other account for today’s core drills.
