The materials we wear on our bodies have a profound social impact on the people in the fashion supply chain. In Tamil Nadu, the Indian capital of cotton production, demand for cheap cotton from big brands has important consequences for the hundreds of thousands of workers turning the raw fibres into finished textiles. There have been many reports about poor working conditions and examples of forced labour, where workers are recruited from rural areas with promises of decent work.
A SOMO report writes, “Recruiters convince parents in impoverished rural areas to send their daughters to the spinning mills with promises of a well-paid job, comfortable accommodation, three nutritious meals a day and opportunities for training and schooling, as well as a lump sum payment at the end of three years. However, when the girls arrive at the mills, it turns out that the reality of their new working life is not so attractive.” The prevalence of this reality in South Indian spinning mills relies on brands’ lack of transparency beyond the first tier of the supply chain. In our 2019 Fashion Transparency Index, we found just 27.5% of brands investigated published their processing facilities (tier 2). Without the knowledge of where brands obtain their fabrics, little can be done to protect the vulnerable workers in these facilities.
We must demand a fashion industry with as much visibility of the supply chain, as of the clothes on the runways. Let’s ask #WhoMadeMyClothes and demand that brands publish not only their factory lists, but every tier of their supply chains.
I know it’s kinda fun to make a DIY bath gel or soap.
But here is a good news. If you don’t have time for DIY, @youngliving have this super easy DIY main ingredient, Bath and Shower Gel Base!😎
All you’ve got to do is just add on a total of 15-20 drops of your favourite EOs.
I choose Geranium as the main oil and put extra drop of it because I love the smell and good for skin. A few drops of Lemon for detoxing. Instead of Thieves, Oregano or Lavender, I prefer Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree Oil) for the antibacterial agent.

TOP OILS OUTSIDE THE STARTER KIT
Just got your kit? Not sure what to order next or just need some inspiration? Here are some of my must have oils outside the starter kit.
Pro+: For all the hormone support. If you’re on our team let me know and I can share our hormone class with you.
Cedarwood: Sleep support, skin support and hair support. A must-have at a great price point.
Orange (or Grapefruit): My happy and uplifting oil. This oil can bring a smile to your face any day.
Dry Skin Serum: Underrated oil blend that ALL oilers should have. I love making my own glow serum but if getting the oils individually isn’t in the budget this is a must have!
Lime: Happiness in a bottle. Uplifting and great for getting rid of unwanted smells in the home. Pairs well with all citrus oils.
Dragon Time: PMS support. I shared a lot of info on how I use this oil a few weeks back. Check the comments for all the incredible testimonies.
Dream Catcher: What sweet dreams are made of. Pair with lavender for all the restful sleep.
Idaho Blue Spruce: Grounding and emotional support. Also, did you love the Anthro Volcano candle? This is a must have to create the diffuser blend. No more candle toxins in our home.
Christmas Spirit: Because Christmas. I diffuse this ALL year long plus it’s also great for immune support.
What are some of your favorite oils outside the starter kit?
Two extracts from the soon to be released “The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis” by Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac paint very different pictures of our future. Which would you prefer?

One of the most SHOCKING points I make to my clients is this 👇🏻
𝟗𝟎% of serotonin is produced in the gut. 🦠
That’s right! NINETY PERCENT. 🤯
So the process looks like:
happy gut = happy mind = less stress = 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 ✔️
That’s why one of my PRIMARY PILLARS in the online course is breaking down nutrition & finding a balance that works BEST for you & your hormones.
Before my clients build onto the foundation of what a healthy diet looks like for 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 (bc I am a firm believer that every body has different needs!)- we establish 3 fundamental nutrition guidelines.
These may sound like common sense to you, & they should! We need to stop viewing health as such a complicated thing.👇🏻
1️⃣ Eat less processed foods. 🍩
This means reducing (notice I didn’t say you had to throw it out altogether- more on this in a later post) refined sugar, artificial sweeteners, fried foods, artificial coloring agents, & essentially all those crazy words on food labels you can’t pronounce (minus words like quinoa, ashwaganda, spirulina... okay maybe don’t rely on the can’t-pronounce-it-rule 😬).
2️⃣ Eat MORE whole foods. 🥑
A good rule is- if you can harvest it or hunt it (or is made from ingredients that fall into those categories), it’s a whole food! Eat foods from the EARTH 🌎, not from a factory 🏭.
3️⃣ DRINK MORE WATER!!! 💧
Please, PLEASE don’t take this lightly. Proper hydration plays into SO many different important factors of our health. Aim for drinking half your body weight in ounces! For example- if you’re 130 lbs, aim to drink 65 oz of water (or about 8 cups).
It’s really that simple!
Follow these 3 steps & feel your body start to heal. 🙏🏻
& if you’re ready to dive deeper into how to tailor your nutrition to best support your cycle, apply for the BALANCED COURSE! Click the “book” button in my bio to fill out your application + schedule a call with me! 💕
I want to know in the comments- which step is most important to you? 1️⃣, 2️⃣, or 3️⃣? 👇🏻
We believe that by observing the human body’s needs, we can develop quality food supplements and #Healthcare solutions to support your #Wellbeing and promote a healthy balanced lifestyle from the inside.https://greenlivingpharma.com/About

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Daughter took some Bodyshop bottles back to @thebodyshop for recycling.
You can take none Bodyshop bottles for recycling too and they are recycled in partnership with @terracycleuk
To deal with the plastic problem we are facing we need to tackle the many different aspects.
1) reduce single use plastic
2) recycle as many plastic bottles as possible
3) use companies that use recycled plastics in their packaging
4) support the circular economy where it is feasible.
By doing these things recycled plastic becomes more of resource and less is wasted.

Anthurium balaoanum wasn’t really on my radar before moving to Florida, but I am so glad to know it now. As a small plant, it seems to be ready to mature and grows very quickly! As a graceful old one, it does it’s best to climb or ramble, whichever one seems to fit the growing environment best. Despite its general upright trajectory, it doesn’t seem to mind not being supported and it’s a beautiful addition to any garden. Easy going, big undulated and very lightly velutinous leaves... what’s not to love? I have been wondering about the plant to the left, though... Sygyzium, is that you? 🤭 I could spend days in the conservatory and not see it all. #anthuriumbalaoanum#anthurium#fairchildtropicalgarden#tropicalconservatory
What is all the rage with CBD?
I had my guard up when I heard we would start offering CBD. The biggest issue for me was that I didn’t know much about it and the biggest misconception was that it would get me high. After doing my research and getting educated on its uses and how it works I’m a now firm believer.
CBD has powerful therapeutic properties that interact with the endocannabinoid system, specifically the cannabinoid system CB1 and CB2.
What makes CBD different?
•non psychoactive (won’t get you high)
•Legal in the US
•No side effects
•Creates homeostasis in the body for optimal health
CBD primarily interacts with your body’s Endocannabinoid system (ECS). “The ECS regulates processes such as appetite, mood, memory, peripheral nervous system, and more. Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. In each tissue, the cannabinoid system performs different tasks, but the goal is always the same: homeostasis.” - Nature’s Ultra
What does the Endocannabinoid System include?
•central nervous system
•muscle and bone health
There are several ways we can use CBD (and as some of you may know YL offers several products now and even a CBD starter kit) but just know you can get creative with its uses just like you would with your essential oils.
Here is a recipe I’ve been loving lately and I’m sure many of you will too!
CBD Relaxing Bath Soak
1 cup Epsom Salts
1-2ml Nature’s Ultra Smart Spectrum CBD
10 drops Lavender - I’ve personally been enjoying Harmony
Mix the ingredients well and pour into a warm running bath.
Make sure to save this post for future reference and tag your friends!

So I think we’ve decided as a society that we don’t like disposable straws and we’re kicking them to the curb. Let’s not stop there, we’ve got so much more work to do! It’s not hard work though. It will take some habit building to remember to bring your stuff with you (know from experience), but once you do it’s like you always lived that way. Here are some easy swaps to make in your daily life. Change takes time, so pick one or two and start tackling this list with me!
* Bring a travel coffee mug instead of getting a disposable at the coffee shop. You usually get a discount and it stays warm longer
* Real cutlery for disposable. Buy a kit like this or just take with you what you already own. It works better too!
* Reusable napkins for disposable (I just got this one in my kit, so currently I’m just the weird lady who brings her napkins home to compost)
* A storage container or jar for restaurant leftovers (I’ve not been remembering to do this! Which means I’ll just stuff myself if they don’t have compostable. Another good option one place offered me as an alternative to their styrofoam was aluminum foil)
* Bees wax wraps, sealable containers or reusable bags or fabrics sacks instead of disposable plastic bags for lunches and snacks
* Bento boxes for lunches instead of plastic sealable bags to store sandwiches, snacks, etc.
Can you add anything to the list?
The kit pictured was purchased from a small Etsy shop, tagged in the picture. There are a lot of different patterns and options to choose from. 💚 I’m just boring with my neutrals. 😉 .
As you can see, you could fit a *lot* of coffee in our tote bags. Luckily they can also hold just about anything else. Available online and in select stores 👜

Skincare made simple. My morning routine consists of 4 quick and easy steps to keep my skin happy, and all in the time it takes to brew my coffee.☕️ ~ Cleanse/Scrub (today it was the Raw Honey Scrub)
~ Apple Cider Vinegar Toner
~ Coffee & Matcha Eye Serum
~ Clarifying Serum and/or Botanical Cream
Easy peasy, now time for that coffee!
Last week, we talked about respecting the earth and the resources it takes to support our ‘more-is-more’ lifestyle. Congratulations to @teresadiscenza , who won a handcrafted @lavami_ hand+body soap as part of our first 12R giveaway.
We’ve spent decades buying. Our second R, Remember, is the antithesis of consumerism. The Batman to ‘buying power’s’ Joker. The Marie Kondo to Amazon’s Jeff Bezos.
Before opening our wallets, we should not simply ask if a purchase will bring us joy (a great question when simplifying your space) but if we truly NEED it. Remember, you’ve lived this long without it, and if it’s not fulfilling a basic or compelling need, reconsider. Remembering before buying is an under-utilized ‘muscle’ made stronger with practice! 😉
Have you remembered and rethought a purchase recently, and lived to tell the tale? Share your thought for a chance to win our second “12R” giveaway prize: a No Pong deodorant, developed in Australia and now made right here in Canada! .
And now for the second of our 12Rs GIVEAWAY (swipe to reveal prize):
✅ Follow us @EcoFillosophy.
✅ Like this photo.
✅ Share an occasion when you remembered and rethought a purchase recently
✅ Tag your friends in separate comments for extra entries.
We will draw one name at random after the contest closes Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at 11:59 EST, and the winner will receive a @nopong.deodorant .
Giveaway is opened to participants in Canada.
Best of luck to all! Hope you are living your EcoFillosophy!
