Once more with the #StayHomeAndDrawSpaceships. Built some reference geometry for layout, then redrew and painted from scratch in @Procreate. It’s my Lotus 49 meets Star Wars idea, with a bit of Syd Mead maybe? I’m liking the Maxpacks gouache brushes a lot. #scifi #digitalartpic.twitter.com/JFBfhUXO7e
Lately Ive been starting things and leaving them unfinished - painting felt a bit strange, my iPad annoyed me and I couldn’t think of anything I would truly like to draw... Anyway, I allowed myself some time to sketch - go outside or even not draw if I didn’t feel like it and last weekend I started this painting and took more time over it than usual. I allowed myself time to stop and come back to it, rather than finish it in one sitting and then all of a sudden something clicked. I’ve started a new list of ideas and I’m excited to paint this afternoon! I think sometimes you need to give yourself some time 🤷🏼♀️ what do you do when your out of ideas and motivation?
Picture: this is Montmartre - I reeeally wouldn’t mind a stroll round Paris and a dip into a few cafes right now... .
Materials: gouache and @carandache illuminance pencils it’s on A3 fluid hot press paper. All from @jacksons_art
Can you tell what my next series will be of??? 🍉 is one of the best parts of the summer. I'm still playing with some of my sketches and the general layout for this page but at least I got some of my sketches out & down on the page. Stay safe ❤️
Meet M.E. Vincent Franasiak. The work spanning costume, comics, illustration, painting, video, sewing, animation, quilting, ink, gouache, theatrics and performance blends “absurd theatrics and flattened expressive presentations” in an attempt to examine “social and psychological arenas with a sense of humor”. Her character creations represent the aspects, layers and sometimes “monsters” of mental illness. She describes different worlds in which the perception of reality is seen through different devices and what exists in between. These larger ideas at the hand of Franasiak creates the characters that span her vast breadth of work. @oh_sweet_beast .
Untitled, 18” x 24”, gouache and ink .
I can't imagine why it wouldnt work with gouache except for maybe the bulk? I can try it with my brush pens tonight and get back to you, though I think alot of that will be how much water you use with it.
PAINTING IN PROGRESS: I'm proud of the progress I made today. Technique is starting to come a bit easier. The beginning was such a struggle because I haven't painted anything since 2013 but now I'm remembering how things work, which means in my next painting is going to be even better. Flesh tones have been scary from the start but I just dived right in today to finish these women. I just have some detail work left on them as well as the background and I'll be done. This painting is adapted from a 1913 reference photo into a 1918 influenza pandemic composition that I'm using to memorialize a similar pandemic we're in now. These women look like they're on a nice stroll until you look closely and notice they're wearing masks. It reminds me of exactly what's happening now. My reference photo is widely mistaken for a pandemic photo from 1918 but it was actually just a regular photo of ladies walking in Germany, I think, from 1913, so what I did was change the way the women are dressed to make them fit into the 1918 timeframe. I've also changed the veils they were wearing into the typical pandemic mask from the influenza period. Stay tuned for more painting posts! If you're new here, etsy.com/shop/ArtByJessicaJewett is my shop. My name is Jessica and I'm a portrait artist and psychic medium living in Atlanta. Due to the nature of my disability, all of the art I do is with the tools in my mouth. This painting is being done with @artezaofficial gouache paints.

Here's a piece I did a couple of years ago for a Facebook fan fiction site called Avengers UK, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Captain Britain. I used original art by Alan Davis and Stuart Immonen for my base figures, and then redrew each costume to depict 40 years of costumes with by Captain Britain. He's now got a new costume, so I need to add that one. Each piece, three so far, is drawn/painted on A3 220gsm smooth cartridge paper. Painted using gouache, and drawn using fineline pens. #captainbritain#marvel#marvelcomics#marveluk#superhero#superheroes#comics#art#illustration#drawing#ink#gouache#painting
