What was your favorite distillery tour yet? 🙌🏻👇🏻 •
Well, I went on my first-ever tour a few weeks ago and thought I’d be nice to share my experience with you.
Since I live in Hamburg, it only made sense to pay @gin.sul a visit. Their tour costs 65€ and promises 2 hrs of gin-fun, free refill of Gin Sul and @fevertreemixers tonic included. Well, not much of a use when it’s Tuesday night and your gin blog does NOT pay the bills 😬 •
I gotta say, there were about 15 other #ginthusiasts and we really had a good time. Everyone at Gin Sul was so nice and friendly and they answered all of our questions regarding distilling etc. We learned loads about the process, the heritage, botanicals and how to properly taste gin. •
We even distilled a miniature version of Gin Sul. So far so good. What I found to be quite disappointing, however, were the last 40 minutes of this event. •
The event description had promised three cocktails and their making-of. Well, numero uno was the g&t we had been drinking for the past hour and a half. Uhm, wow. Second and third were a Negroni (meeeh, standard) and Gin Fizz. But here comes the twist: the 15 “cocktails” came in their standard 1cl tasting glasses. They were a shot of cocktail. •
Call me crazy but I found that to be rather disappointing. And then, we basically got kicked out; through the gift shop. “We all want to go home at some point so please go to the shop, buy what you need to buy, get your goodie bag and good night!” We’ll that’s a hell of a friendly goodbye. Not. (Btw: goodie bag consisted of a branded copa glass, a booklet and a pin)
In my opinion, this experience was by no means good value for money. And if you can’t pull of a nice distillery tour then just leave it all together and focus on making gin.
However, to be fair, I have not been to another distillery so I don’t know what they charge and what the experience is like.
I’d love to hear about your gin distillery experiences so far and how you liked (or didn’t like) them! 👇🏻 •
We think you’ll agree that this #SignatureServe really is The Bee’s Knees, especially as it is so easy to make! You will need:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
50ml Silent Pool Gin ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
20ml Freshly squeezed lemon juice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In a shaker, stir the gin and honey until the honey has dissolved. Add the lemon juice and fill the shaker with ice. Shake until chilled and strain into a chilled cocktail coupe or martini glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon peel or a fine dusting of dried lavender.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Made it? We would love to know what you think.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pleasantly surprised to see this @newriff gin turned cloudy on ice. I've only seen this happen with ouzo before! It definitely has a bit of an anise taste so I checked and yep! It has licorice root. I'm guessing that's why it's cloudy? If not, I have no idea!

Always on the hunt for new gins to try! This one from @northsidedistillingco was floral and light and easy to drink, but the real treat was when they let me try their currently aging gin. Still well over 100 proof but almost no burn and with a complex bourbon spin. Yum! If only I was going to be here when they officially release it in a month or so!
