You can’t have the bad guys without the good guys. A friend made a great observation when I showed this this to him. “I wonder why her face is covered and his isn’t. Was that intentional by the director?” That reminded me of the use of light and dark in this movie. He also remarked that perhaps the girl might be darker inside than the man. The film begins with both of their faces either being covered or in shadow, and progressively become illuminated as the film progresses. Leon’s face is darkened by his beanie, sunglasses, and the collars of his coat. His face only lights up when he is alone in a movie theater while watching Gene Kelly films, and eventually lights up when he is with Matilda. Matilda’s face is covered by her hair as she looks down while smoking a cigarette, and lights up when she sees her little brother. Eventually, both of their faces become more illuminated as their relationship builds. There are many more amazing details in the film which I won’t share here. Btw, sorry for not taking progress shots. I was so excited to start this one since last night and got ahead of myself.

A las 22hs. HIPERSOMNIA (2017) 😱
Película de #suspenso y #terrorpsicológico. Milena es una actriz principiante pero las propuestas del director teatral rozan lo siniestro y lo perturbador.
Alkali Lake Weapon X-Jet concept art from 2015's “X Men: Apocalypse". My first collaboration with the great academy award winning production designer Grant Major (LOTR trilogy). Grant and I shared a very deep interest in aircraft and vehicle design, so we hit it off right from the beginning. We had many inspiring designs discussions and went through hundreds of sketching sessions between us. We ended up settling with a bird-like transport cargo jet with transformable wings, inspired by VTOL military aircraft V22 Osprey and a Gannet sea bird. This project started a wonderful design partnership between us, which later lead to many more cool projects including "Kia: Sportage X car" (2017), "MEG" (2018) and the upcoming Netflix series: "Cowboy Bebop". -

Contact (1997)- I haven’t watched this movie in a very long time, but the fact that it imprinted so firmly onto my kid mind means that it’s one of those films that has shaped me. I should watch it now and see how my perception has changed but my memory impressions of it are, mysterious, ominous, determined, and hopeful. I loved how the tech created in it blends between science, even possibly religion, and has a feeling of faith being as important as the knowledge and scientific study behind it. And then I love the spectacle of watching Jodie Foster go through almost this ritualistic, mythical, massive scale contraption. So cool. I can still picture and feel those moments even though it’s been probably over 10-15 years since I’ve seen it.
