His remark from last week ‘we’ve seen four doctors and some nurses die’ seems typical of the outdated belief that nurses are somehow of secondary importance to doctors.
In fact they aren’t even counting the nurses
The health secretary was immediately called out by Dame Donna Kinnair, chief executive of the Royal College of Nursing who was sitting beside him.
89% of nurses in the UK are female.
This is before we get onto healthcare assistants, cleaning staff, laundry staff, care workers. All are female-dominated occupations. And despite their similar (and not infrequently higher) levels of exposure as doctors and nurses, they are on minimum wage and won’t always have access to the same levels of PPE
By the way, four nurses have died so far from Covid-19. Their names are Liz Glanister, Areema Nasreen, Aimee O’Rourke and John Alagos.
**Super Full Moon in Libra ♎️ tonight @ 10:34 PM EST** Get outside later if you can to get a glimpse of this pink lady 💕💕
Oh yes, it’s that time of month again when the 🌕 directly opposes the ☀️, this time with the sun in Aries (me) ♈️ and 🌚 in Libra (we) ♎️, asking us to review & release anything that’s out of balance in our relationships 🤝
Questions to consider on this lunation: .
- Which relationships in my life are out of balance ⚖️ .
- Am I giving up too much of my personal power in any of my relationships? .
- Have I been prioritizing others’ needs before my own? *Or, have I been too selfish lately, neglecting the needs of those I love? .
Get the idea? Oddly enough, this social distancing thing may have given you just the right amount of space to form a whole new perspective on the relationships that matter most in your life 🌕⚖️❤️💫
NORMALCY / EQUALITY (2008)
Willard's equality interpretation is a micro sculpture of an equally balanced see-saw of both black and white characters. The micro sculpture is of two children sat on a see-saw, and was inspired by the famous 17-minute speech which was delivered by Dr Martin Luther King in Washington DC in August 1963. Willard pays tribute to Dr King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech; ‘Man, woman, child, whether black or white should have the right to all freedoms of equality and opportunity permitting them to each lead normal life’. The micro sculpture was made from different nylon fibres, gold from his chain, and was painted using human hair. The piece can be moved up and down, depicting a tilt in the balance of power and equality. The piece took seven weeks to create.•

@Tesco have shown they don’t have time or care for those of us regular disabled/vulnerable customers who have no choice but to self isolate.
More slots should be made available rather than having to wait another month at least!
In a lot of my conversations on the #BossBrownWomen podcast, this has been a recurring topic of discussion.
A lot of women have spoken about how since childhood, they were expected to take up more responsibility at home and at school as compared to their male counterparts. It could be something as small as being served food after their brothers/cousins, or something as big as always being expected to help with more of the housework.
Have YOU noticed such discrepancies in the way that boys and girls are treated from a young age in your life or a loved one’s?
Though I was extremely lucky to grow up in a household where my father and uncle always emphatically emphasized gender equality and ensured me or my female cousin never felt any ounce of sexism in the household, a lot of my extended family didn’t always agree on the same.

To end Sunday's "State of the Union" on CNN, anchor Jake Tapper took a few moments to ask President Donald Trump directly what his plan was to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. Below is a full transcript of Tapper's remarks: "If I can take a moment, I would like to speak directly to one person known to watch this show, or at least clips of this show, President Trump.
Mr. President, I know you, like millions of Americans, are eager to have the nation go back to some semblance of normal. One of the questions the American people need answered for that to happen responsibly: What's the plan?
Is there a plan for widespread testing of every American so as to isolate the virus -- the way other countries have done? When will there be enough tests for that to happen? How will they be administered? Who will pay for the tests and the results? Who will notify us as to whether we've tested positive or not and what to do then?
Is there a plan to make sure doctors and nurses and health care professionals finally are able to get the personal protective equipment or PPE that they need? Those health care workers are quite literally dying while they try to protect our society and save lives and they're -- they are begging for PPE. They don't need to be told that their governors or their hospital directors are doing anything wrong by trying to get those supplies to protect their lives while they try to save our lives. They need to know that there's a plan to get them the supplies they need.
Governors and mayors right now are literally bidding against each other and against the federal government to try to get these supplies. This is escalating the prices and causing confusion and unnecessary bidding competition. Is there a plan to stop that? What is it?

“The White House was focused on addressing the threat to its survival,” argued the columnist Henry Olson in The Washington Post, “not on preparing for a threat from China that might not even materialize.” “democrats pushed impeachment while coronavirus spread,” blared a Breitbart News headline, which was soon picked up by Sean Hannity on Fox.
Senator Tom Cotton has also adopted the theory, telling Politico, “It’s unfortunate that during the early days of a global pandemic, the Senate was paralyzed by a partisan impeachment trial.” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has been pushing this theory too, telling the conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt that the Senate impeachment trial “diverted the attention of the government” from the virus, “because everything every day was all about impeachment.” Over the past two months, President Donald Trump has deployed a dizzying array of lies about why the coronavirus wasn’t a cause for concern, then defenses to excuse or deny his deadly mishandling of the pandemic. The virus was under control in the United States, he argued. The warm weather would make it go away. It would miraculously vanish. It was China’s fault, and limiting travel from China had solved the problem. It was the media’s fault for exaggerating things. It was Barack Obama’s fault. States in urgent need of ventilators should have purchased the medical equipment months ago, and it isn’t the president’s responsibility to fix that problem.
I know there is a double standard in American health care. Americans all need to fight for equality starting with right to vote and medical care!#EqualityMatters https://twitter.com/dwightlwolfe/status/1238176258753617920 …
