Dunbar in East Lothian is one of the historic county's most popular seaside towns, with a vibrant high street full of quaint country shops and a bustling harbour that dates back to the 17th-century.
Dunbar is most commonly known as being the birthplace of John Muir - the conservationist who established many of the United States biggest national parks - but it's also famed for its thriving shellfish industry.
The old harbour walls frame a rugged and wild coastline that's perfect for walking along while the busy harbour offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of modern commercial fishing boats - a far cry from the town's early days when it was used as a port for Scotland's whaling industry.

In the space of just a few days you have come together to help us do something amazing during this Covid-19 crisis. This week we have delivered around 15,000 emergency food packs throughout Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen to homeless people and others in food poverty.
We are so proud of our team who have worked tirelessly to produce and deliver this amount of food. We are also working with almost 50 other incredible charities and community groups who are helping us get the food to the people who need it.
The need out there is only getting bigger by the day as this crisis deepens. We will be aiming to produce more food each day to meet the demand and expand the service to Dundee and Inverness soon. I’m amazed by how much the world has come together during the COVID-19 pandemic.
LVMH repurposed its manufacturing line to make hand sanitiser, free of charge.
We all stood out on our doorsteps and windows in unity to applaud and cheer on the NHS.
Wealthy individuals and businesses have made generous donations (Armani contributed $2 million to hospitals in Rome and Milan and Oprah Winfrey donated $10 million to various organisations). Zoom have offered a free service for unlimited use in affected countries. Including China and Italy.
Gary Barlow has started his own ‘Crooner Sessions’ on social media where he performs a live duet over video call.
It’s the spirit of humanity and collaborating together that will help us get through this 💙.

This Easter weekend help us to help you.
Keep your beach gear at home to protect yourself, your family and your community from #Covid19.
Beaches won’t be lifeguarded and if you get into trouble, you’ll be putting the emergency responders and their families at risk of coronavirus too; they’ll be risking their own lives to rescue you. And you’ll be putting avoidable pressure on our amazing NHS heroes. Please just don’t do it.
We know it’s tempting. We love the coast too. But please, this weekend, stretch your legs locally, don’t stretch our resources and don’t travel to the coast.
It’s not a holiday, it’s a national emergency. The Government instruction is clear - #StayHomeSaveLives.
#DouglasFamily#coatofarms on the Riverside #pubsign#musselburgh #eastlothian. The Douglas family were the most powerful family not to reach the #Scottish throne. My workplace #TantallonCastle was a #Douglas property. The heart was added to the shield after the Good Sir James (what's ma f#[email protected] name? ) Douglas was tasked with taking the heart of his close friend #RobertTheBruce, after his death to the Holy Land. Douglas only made it to Southern Spain, to a town called Teba, where he died in battle but as he realised his fate, he threw the casket holding the #heart, forward into the Moors he faced, before charging after his #King, into battle for the final time. The casket was returned to #Scotland and is now kept at #MelroseAbbey
I was told one night the story of why the coat of arms is on the pub sign. Unfortunately the man telling me and myself were both quite drunk. All I remember was, it was something about the Douglas family protecting the people of Musselburgh. If you can shed any light on this, please do.
As the beach is only 5 minutes (on foot!) from our house, we have been down there a lot for our #governmentapprovedwalk. Here are some of the rarer pieces that made us make a happy dance 💖

when moon shadows danced over garden and wall.
When whispers of wickedness stirred in his head,
He adjusted his whiskers and stayed home instead.’ - Lynley Dodd (Slinky Malinki)

＂Ｙｏｕ Ｄｏｎ＇ｔ Ｗａｎｔ Ｔｏ Ｗａｋｅ Ｕｐ， Ｄｏ Ｙｏｕ？＂
Scouring through the depths of Netflix limbo, looking for something I hadn't seen before, I came across this particular film. I remember the hype surrounding this film was due to 3 things; Horror, Nudity, and Scarlett Johansen. Not knowing what I had gotten myself into, I was surprised at what the film had turned out to be & was left with more questions than I initially had. But I enjoyed it.
I highly suggest going into the movie as blind as possible i.e. don't watch the trailers. This was a moody, atmospheric, depressing, and dark as hell film. Beautifully shot with some very satisfying scenic scenes. Now the #Horror element; Holy Shit Was It Disturbing. For every beautiful shot of a beach or isolated part of town came some really fucked up scenes. But all together, the movie looked gorgeous. Also the soundtrack is TERRIFYINGLY BEAUTIFUL.
The story is pretty straightforward but also very complex. You'll understand what's going on atm but will be left wondering what's actually going on UNDER THE SKIN (*pun intended*). The only nitpick I guess you could have with the film was the ending, because as soon as the movie's over you feel empty. But that's what makes it great. HIGHLY RECOMMEND *IF* You've got time to spare & are looking for something DARK, MATURE, & DEPRESSING. ON #Netflix RN.
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
Meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
A beautiful poem, feel your feelings and be with whatever life brings to us.
‘Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it’s something you design for the present.’ ~ Jim Rohn .
Is it just me or does it feel like someone has pressed the pause button on life? We’re going through crazy times but let’s try and focus on what we can do.
So here are five things I’d like to do in order to look after my own mental health:
1. Morning pages - each day I’m going to try and write 3 pages of a brain dump to get everything I’m thinking and feeling onto paper, thanks for suggesting this @rosieartheycoaching
2. Exercise - 5k runs, yoga, walking, kettle bells, let’s keep moving our bodies! Also check out @hannahbuchancoaching on her 30 day movement challenge.
3. Gratitude - Tony Robbins calls it the ‘highway to happiness’ and is known to overpower negative emotions.
4. Meditation - it can protect our immune system and help build mental resilience.
5. Stay connected - we are so lucky we have technology to keep us all connected and I worry that loneliness is on the rise. Let’s keep checking in on our friends, family and community and especially those who are in self isolation.
I’m choosing to stay positive and understand we need each other more than ever during this time of uncertainty. If you like, you can tag in the comments below your favourite motivational speakers, energy healers, life coaches, mindfulness and meditation teachers, yoga teachers, personal trainers or any other relevant wellbeing accounts to help us support each other.
Stay safe everyone.
