A cottage can be many shapes but the history is that of inexpensive homes that originated in England, where peasant farmers called “cotters” lived in what we would now consider a quaint and comfy style of home. Although life was tough for those inhabitants because evidently they worked all the time. Cottages are traditionally small, feature stone or wood facades and have gabled roofs. They are also often built with arched entryways and brick walkways. In the US we have taken the liberty to expand the cottage label to more designs and characteristics but the smaller size has always been a stayed part of the style. “A little cottage in the wood or by the sea” has been in our lexicon and writing for decades as a nod to a more peaceful place; quiet but complete to fully house your needs. This lil doozy at dusk would do just fine.
